vs. Depaul

Took care of business like they should vs. Depaul at the sold out XL Center. Shot it well from 3 (except for the off night by Hawk). Moved it well (24 assists). Got a little sloppy in the 2nd half with TO's (10 of the 13 on the night) and soft on D ( gave up 40 after only 19 in the 1st), as DH mentions in the post game.
( ps. Hurley mentions he hopes Samson stays @ Uconn after not getting much run since being out injured for 2 months...but with the portal ???)

On to Nova for the reg. season final this SAT @ the 20,000+ seat Wells Fargo Center . Cats have been playing better with Justin Moore back from his injury......3 straight wins @ Xavier, vs. Creighton and @ Seton Hall.

Big shout Hurley for you & AJ's adjustment.....

He WAS singlehandly destroying your team with play after play of offensive ineptness but since you crowned him as your leader, SO I'm Glad you figured this out.

His upside is rebounding and D, but he should be handling the ball less than Lyman Depriest did for Jim Calhoun on the offensive end. And I don't care if he hits five 3's in a row..... it's all fools gold that will send you home once again come tournament time to another lower seed. But there you are having your team pass him the ball and deferring to him in crunch time like your trying to prove the whole world wrong. Every opposing coach in the Big East is laughing at this when they play you, including McDermott during the FOX in the huddle. WAKE UP DAN !

PS..... maybe you should also realize what a disservice it is to the players on the team, who actually do have offensive ability. But because you anointed him and allow it, they probably don't want to be a bad teammate and call it out.

vs. St. Johns at MSG

Had a fun trip down to the Garden with other donors on the Uconn Foundation bus trip, so shout to them. Huskies made it complete with the guys giving the loud and loaded arena full of Uconn fans our moneys worth. Nice to see a Joey C performance, back in full effect. Got a little sloppy at the end and easier for the Johnies to once again attack the rim with Clingan out. Since there's not a consistent outside scorer on their team and all they do is drive. DH really needs to figure out how to play DC and Sanogo in at the same time vs. these type of teams. But the revenge/job got done..... keep it rollin'.

Richie Springs- Senior night and beyond

Seems like we'll never know, but he could've brought alot more than he was ever given a chance to. Didn't look out of place when he did get minutes early in the year. Shout out to:
"Springs stayed, too, because the UConn degree meant something to him and to his family. He will graduate this spring, on time, with his degree in general studies. Then he’ll have options, likely two full years of eligibility to play as a grad student if he chooses to seek a place where he can get the minutes. "

Joey C......

.......great read on Joey and his Fam.....

Joey Calcaterra, having finished his four seasons at San Diego, was just about to sign on with Vanderbilt as a grad transfer last spring.......

"Joey loved the feel of the SEC. He loved where Vanderbilt was," Rich Calcaterra reported. "But then we came up, per Hurley’s request, to come visit (UConn). Joey watched one practice and he realized that he wanted to be in the Big East, he wanted to play for Hurley. He saw the intensity level, met some of the guys, and that kind of sealed the deal." And let's face it, Joey California, the nickname Hurley quickly bestowed upon the 6-foot-3 guard, has a better ring to it than "Joey Vanderbilt" or "Joey Commodore."

"For those who think driving all the way to Storrs for a UConn game is too much of a hassle, Rich Calcaterra might want a word with you.......he has been to all but two of the Huskies' games this season. He's been everywhere, man. In fact, Calcaterra hasn't been home in a couple of months. Part of that is because of Enterprise Events Group, the corporate events company he owns which runs some 200 events a year all over the map, from 45,000-person conventions to 200-person African safaris."

Newton

Hmmm...... Interesting stuff happens when you have your team start attacking the hoop instead playin' hot potato hand off 25 feet from the hoop or waiting for cutters to get open as the shot clock runs out.
Which seemed to happen way to often in the Big East vs. the" hack you away from the ball" ploy being used by less talented squads like Providence, St. Johns and Seton Hall.

Especially with the putrid referring by these veteran Big East refs. Who seemed like they never read the "freedom of movement" initiatives put in place by the NCAA a few years back. Broken down refs like Anderson last night are still as bad as ever, but big shout out to Tristen Newton who seems to be taking it on his own lately to gain real estate towards the hoop and create offense. More Newton and way less Jackson on the offensive end should be the formula from here on out. Still can't believe DH loves AJ so much he let'm miss 7 shots in a row to start vs. Xavier, B4 yankin' him, which cost a 3 point loss, SMH ! Better late than never.

PS. Also props to Nahiem Alleyne who finally showed some of what he was brought here for from
Va Tech, on both sides of the ball.
