UConn vs Texas WBB- 6:30 PM FS1

Reportedly Texas PG Rori Harmon who is rated the 10th best player in NCAA WBB is questionable for tonight's game with a toe injury. Texas had 25 TOs without her in their opener. So I would look for UConn to vigorously press Texas tonight if they are without Harmon who is their best player.
Caroline Ducharme should be back for UConn which is coming off an encouraging performance against Northeastern to say the very least.

UCONN WBB LOOK GREAT IN OPENER

UConn WBB looked surprisingly good tonight in a 98-39 hosing of Northeastern. The team hustled, scored easily, played team ball and Geno played the whole roster. Azzi Fudd had 26 points despite only 1-8 shooting 3s; Edwards was very active on both ends and finished with 14 points and 11 boards; Dorka matched her with 14 and 12 and the Fairfield U grad added 17, while Aubrey Griffin had 13 points off the bench and looked like the same player she was before she was hurt 2 years ago.

Most impressive was the overall team energy and hustle. Northeastern was held to 20% FGs. For comparative purposes UConn men held Butler to 19% FGs in 2011 NCAA finals which was an NCAA record.

Welcome to the 2023 Husky commits (New FAB 5 -now OFFICIAL)

Welcome to the 1st Husky of 2023-

Stephon Castle (Rivals profile) ...SG/PG....6-6/205.....Covington, GA...
ranked #25 in the country by Rivals and # 27 by 247 sports ( # 4 shooting guard) for the class of 2023.
The 6-foot-6 prospect from Covington, Georgia, visited UConn on Nov. 6, but there was no Crystal Ball prediction about his decision entering his announcement. Also mentioned by CBS, that this is the first time Coach Hurley has expanded his recruiting out of the NE/DMV footprint to the south.
Rivals:
" Castle currently comes in as the No. 25 overall prospect in the 2023 Rivals150. After watching him again recently, that might not be high enough. At 6-foot-6, he’s a legitimate point guard that can run a team and he’s now playing with the confidence that he can score with the best of them.... Castle is the type of player that other top prospects will want to play with because of his unselfish style of play and ability to make guys around him look really good."

UConn WBB To Retire Swin Cash #32 At Texas Game November 14

As basketball fans we hear many times that a player has a "great motor." I can't think of any player in the history of UConn WBB who had a greater motor than Swin Cash did. She was an all time great player at UConn, excelled in transition, was named All American and All WNBA and won numerous college and pro championships and gold medals. Very well deserved:

Other Big East Action

Last night Georgetown snapped a 21 game losing streak with a 99-89 OT win over Coppin State. While an OT win over Coppin State is not normally a reason to rejoice, it snapped an embarrassing losing streak and Akok Akok had 18 points, 12 boards, 5 blocks and 2 assists and looks like he could even be a main man player for the Hoyas. A big concern, however, is that 4 starters played 42 minutes or more, which is not what you want to have to do against a team like Coppin State.

In other action, Providence nipped an experienced Rider team 66-65 at home. This is not what Ed Cooley really wanted to see, but he did escape with the W

So regarding that culture thing.....hows that workin' out for ya DH ??? Also funny now that Benedict and the Uconn AD thought the hoops team was in such good hands that they could go up 200% on donations next year, and beat the long time season tix holders over the fricken' head ...LOL!

" When UConn season ticket holders checked their phones to a message from Benedict on Monday afternoon, many were expecting a minimal price increase to their current ticket prices.
What they weren’t expecting was a total price increase of more than 200% for many tickets, and lower level season ticket prices reaching $5,000, in some cases.
