Dan and Kimani are out vs. Seton Hall

6:30 pm @ Prudential Center...TV: FS1

I guess someone else ( Tom Moore) will have to direct Uconn's "Wasted" motion offense that seems like it creates no open looks lately vs. BE coaches / refs. It does seems to tire out their own team running around in circles, for when they come back to the other end and try to play DH's tired man to man D, that can't keep a chair in front of them....

" DH added that as soon as he was done with his postgame press conference, he was going to “lock in on watching” the game film to see what changes need to happen.....But Hurley has to shake things up, somehow, someway. It's why he's making the big bucks. That could mean changes to the starting lineup, or at least his rotations. It could mean schematic changes, offensively and defensively. "

GEE, ya think ?....how about in game adjustments instead
...but since you don't...a 2-1-2 zone with Clingan/ Sanago in the back to stop the penetration might be nice..... and ditch the 1 in / 4 out offense that isn't working anyway with the useless high ball screens ? to keep your best players/ the 2 bigs on the court together.

The Twin Towers Strategy Made a Comeback in the NBA

vs. St. Johns - HURLEY your 'Wasted" motion offense is BROKEN !

12:00 noon...TV: FS1

If Karaban doesn't play it'll be interesting to see DH's starting line-up seeing that Anderson plays a small ball line-up of 2 small guards, 6-4 and a 6-6 wing. Hurley could replace Karaban with Clingan but if that's the case( in a 2 bigs with 6-5, 6-5 and 6-6 line-up) DH would probably need to play Clingan at the bottom in a zone on D. To stop St. Johns small guards from getting to the rim. Other than that if DH goes smaller I'd see him starting Diarra, to match them, but I think that'll play right into Anderson's strength of him using his guards/wings to beat Uconn off the dribble.

Bracketology

The first bracket analysis of the season has UConn as 7 seed in the East. When you consider that the other 7 seeds are Oregon, Xavier, and Purdue, this seems like a respectable seed to me. It was also the seed UConn was given when it won the NCAA tournament in 2014.

vs. Creighton - SAT JAN 7 @ Gampel

......12 noon.....TV: FOX

Another team who's turned it around recently with the 7-1 Kalbrenner back for wins in the last 3 games. (all at home vs. lower NET ranked BE teams - Butler, Seton Hall, Depaul) The Big East pre-season #1 started 6-0 then dropped 6 in a row (3 by 3 points or less). And half with their bigman out for a couple of weeks.

We'll see if DH tries to go with his own twin towers, but Creighton is another team with a 4 man (Kalumu ) who plays away from the hoop (61 - 3pt attempts.) and could force Sanogo outside if that is DH's line-up. Need the Huskies to get their 3 point shooting stroke back in Gampel for a true must win, to turn things around and defend their home serve.

Uconn @ Providence - Wed Jan 4

8:30 pm....TV-FS1
Don't look now but Providence has won 7 in a row and are at the top of the BE standings.
So another tough road test but the Friars are a very different match-up than Xavier. With Cooley starting a much smaller line-up. It'll be interesting to see how DH plays it because of this. And if he freezes Clingan out of this game too, despite the effectiveness he had last game in his 7 minutes total.
