FedEx Forum, Memphis.......Thursday, 1 pm....TV: ESPNU (Mike Corey, Tim Welsh)

UConn did it’s best to make it a close game but you take the win and move on, and hope you can also go 13-24 on 3s against Houston although this is very likely an outlier shooting game, as was getting 8 points out of Whaley before he fouled out. When you shoot 54% FGs and on 3s you should win and UConn did. That they lost the rebounding wars by 3 only is just a minor irritant. Carlton needs to do better job of keeping himself on the Court and against Houston they will need more than a donut which is what UConn got from him today. Donuts don’t cut it in postseason play unless you are a Hartford cop eating one and watching the game at Vaughan’s.

Great job by the Jalen lead Huskies....and screw these AAC refs who did everything they could to let USF back into the game. Uconn breathed on somebody & it was foul until they got Jalen out. Once he was out they let USF knock Vital to the floor on his drive no call, foul Uconn everytime they went up underneath..... nothing and USF could come close to setting up a ladder on Uconn's back going for Off Rebs and nothin' ...plus a USF guard shoved off way to many times before they shot, never a charge...the Huskies beat USF and these dirty MF'ers.

Boxscore 80 - 73

Also besides the Whaley gameball out of nowhere.... shock me Sid Wilson with 4 clutch FT's

PS as I said b4 this game, ( and Tim Welch mentioned during it on ESPNU) Uconn loses this game with Alterique running the point. ( he would have shot his team out of it or forced to much as a PG )....Uconn's offense runs better with ball going through Jalen, not him standing around on the baseline with the shot clock running out...

Like KO did with JA for 2 years....it was KO's biggest fail with the kid. Purvis who couldn't dribble, Antione Anderson who couldn't shoot, Larrier the TO machine and black hole, take your pick of terrible players KO tried to run the offense threw in key situations, instead of using this guy:

Now the only problem is Houston has about 3 guys like Jalen, who make good decisions with the ball.

UConn isn’t shooting 13-24 on 3s against Houston which is why they won this game. They will need more out of Carlton to beat Houston. They need to make 8-9 3s and get like 17 and 10 from Carlton and then an upset can be sniffed.

It depends how the game plays out, Carlton had 4 blocks and 6 rebs in limited time, he was 0-1, so he didn't hurt the offense. Plus the 2nd foul they called on Josh, that made him miss most of the 1st half, was garbage compared to what these 3 blind mice let USF get away with going after boards.

Uconn without AG running the point looked smoother and took what USF gave them...... that's all you want the offense to do. If you have good ball movement and Uconn can hit from outside ....then it should open up the middle for Josh, so we will see.

Houston's strength is it's back court, they play 3 guards just like Hurley, so I don't see them giving up alot of open 3's. And they don't have much height or scoring from there bigs ( 6-8, 6-7 starters with 6-5 and 6-8 off the bench) but they do have some beef....so it should be an interesting match-up. Though UH starts 3 small guards, the 6-5 former Umass guard off the bench, Jarreau, might be he toughest match-up for the Huskies.

“It will be a tough challenge,” said Jalen Adams, who, along with point guard Alterique Gilbert, missed the Huskies’ 71-63 loss to Houston on Feb. 14 in Hartford due to injuries. “We are ready for it.”

" This entire season — a journey of injuries, frustration, growing pains and even bad luck — is just a steppingstone in the long run, but it is recorded and remembered just like any other. It counts — especially the way it looks and feels whenever the curtain is pulled. Last season, the Huskies came to this tournament to die, and die they did, finishing 14-18 before Kevin Ollie was fired. If anyone watching this version of the Huskies doesn’t see an entirely different product, they don’t know basketball. "
