Christian Vital has 125 rebounds, 5.7 rebounds per game, to lead UConn, while the rising Josh Carlton has 122 rebounds, 5.5 per game, and is a very close second. This battle was epitomized when the two teammates locked up and struggled with each other for a rebound against ECU, Carlton finally allowing Vital to rip the board away from him. Had Carlton snared that rebound away and not deferred to the upperclassman, the two would be separated by 1 board. It's quite amazing that Vital is leading the team in rebounds this late in the season, but I think Carlton's 16 rebound explosion against ECU is a sign that he will soon take over the rebounding lead. Carlton should push his total closer to 7 rpg by the end of the year.
