That was a DUD of a game. Whaley fell back to earth but made sure of it with a HORRIBLE first half and Carlton was the same ol'Terrible.....those two alone made this a game. Whaley came around in the second half with big block ans boards.....

Still it was Tulane and we looked spent.

Guess we get a rematch on Thursday.

Bouk was below average, Adams started hot but fell rapidly, and Gilbert was decent.

We need more to make the final game which is what I think we need to get on the bubble and get in.

Assuming UConn gets by Tulane in the tournament they then face Wichita State, which has 2 legitimately good 7 footers and the interior matchups will be a huge problem for UConn. Keeping Whaley and Carlton both out of foul trouble will be a priority because Sid Wilson matching up at the 5 against huge 7 footers is not what you want..........

AAC Tournament schedule (all times ET):

First Round; Thursday, March 12
Game 2: No. 5 UConn vs. No. 12 Tulane, 3:30 p.m.

Quarterfinals; Friday, March 13
Game 6: No. 4 Wichita vs. Game 2 winner, 3:30 p.m.

The 4 primary reasons for the strong finish were (1) insertion of Gaffney at PG and resulting stabilizing influence, (2) improved play of Bouknight offensively, (3) insertion of Whaley for injured Akok and resulting improved scoring and ball screen defense, (4) late season surge in play of Christian Vital.

All of these things were positive developments as was the team’s ability to defend while playing 4 guard offenses, but I think the defensive limitations of the 4 guard offenses could be exposed by Wichita and/or Cincy playing “Bully Ball” inside on UConn. Which they will. Cincy completely hosed UConn playing Bully Ball the first game and they will watch that tape. And UConn was completely healthy that game with Akok and Polley
