Other Action & UConn Opponents

Very interesting development last night as Syracuse went on the road and beat previously undefeated and #25 ranked UNLV, the school which has trouble keeping its NIL promises, by a score of 44-41. Syracuse dominated the game statistically. This will enhance the value of a possible win over a Syracuse later in the season.

However, the schedule continues to toughen very substantially for Syracuse the next 5 games with 4 of the 5 on the road, and they could lose all 5- at NC State, at undefeated Pitt, Virginia Tech at home and then road games at BC and California, before they play UConn. They will be fortunate to go 3-2 in that stretch. We will see what happens with them.

Starting QB Unknown Against Temple

Bobby Wilson said on Locked On the Temple starting QB has shown an ability to move the team but has a shoulder injury and is questionable. The back up is the former starter who was benched early in the season because of excessive TOs.

Wilson said Temple's D, especially their rushing D, is weak (1350 rushing yards allowed) so this could be another game where Edwards and Robinson both go over 100 yards.

Wilson also said he has watched Temple play and they are undisciplined and take a lot of penalties.

I am guessing it will probably be Evers. Mora said that Evers does need to clean up his running so as to dive rather than slide at the end of runs so he stops taking big hits. Hopefully we see more of that this week.

UConn is -16.5 I believe on Fan Duel, but Zanetto urged his listeners to give the points because he guarantees UConn will win by 30. I hope nobody took that statement to their bank and wagered their weekly pay, but we will see what happens.

Darius Adams Decision Coming Tomorrow!

"It felt right. It felt like family," Adams told ESPN. "After watching them practice, I wanted to go work out. When the visit was over, I did not want to leave."

Adams developed a strong relationship with coach Dan Hurley, whose trademark sideline emotion was a plus in the Huskies' column.

"Love his intensity," Adams said. "He gets his shooters open. He gets you ready for the next level. He is relentless on the court. Hard on his players in a good way. Funny guy off the court in a little sarcastic way."

NIL Chaos!!!

UNLV won big in their first game since the controversy, with the backup QB (6th year senior transfer from Campbell) playing well:
I still think this controversy will hurt UNLV very badly, even if they did everything right and by the rules. Other schools will tell recruits, "UNLV does not pay their NIL, do not believe a single thing they say." And it is kind of planted in many recruits' minds now. Barry Odom will have to work extra hard to counteract this in his recruiting.

Buffalo at UConn

They showed tape right before the game started and I saw Mora being restrained and was wondering what happened. I have never seen anything like this in sports do anything other than light a match under the opposing team.

It reminds me of my freshman year in high school watching the Fairfield Prep freshman football team play a middle school team in another town. I happened to know players on the other team including the player involved in the antics. I was on the sideline with the FP team (I was not on the team and never played football). The player in question was a LB on the other team who crossed the middle of the field and said, "we are going to kick your asses like they never been kicked before", and assorted other taunts and abusive comments. He crossed the field alone, and got within 30 feet of us. I think his number was 55. Anyway, I was shocked by the unprovoked provocation. Nobody on our side said anything to them. I then heard two of FP's offensive lineman, conferring on a play to run in 55's direction and coordinate a joint block on him. They then executed the play to perfection and he was down on the ground for a long time before he got up. FP went on to win the game which was a close contest. The team they played was pretty good and the freshmen on that team, when they became seniors at the town high school, went 11-0 and were State Champions. The FP team when they became seniors went 10-1 and were MBIAC Champions, their only loss coming to St. Joseph's which they avenged by beating St. Joseph's in the MBIAC Championship game.
