Transfer Portal Opens Tomorrow!

What is notable is the complete lack of respect of Duke despite bringing in a top recruiting class. People do not believe they can win it all with the model they are using- hero ball with high school all stars. College basketball is a grown man's sport.

The coaches are obviously thinking it's a possibility that he is gone, for them to be looking at Stojakovic and Miller.
Heard Stoko is leaning towards a B1G school...... so since Alex may never decide ( actually I think he has to by Friday ) Question is would Miller be a better fit for DH's 2025-26 team at the 4, than AK at this point ?

From the standpoint of giving the team more size, yes. I look at Florida's team last year and they got good guard play but also had a lot of size up front. All of their bigs were mobile, could rebound and score. Size does not take any games off. On the other hand, Karaban last year did not shoot well and was very streaky. There is no question that he is a very very high IQ basketball player and he makes consistent winning type plays, but I think he hit his ceiling last year and the NBA recognized that and it's why he has a low 2nd round grade.

So their take is this fit, that fit, etc., but with all the schools involved I guess it comes down to "show me da money ".......

But on a side note I used to watch this podcast awhile back but the guy on the right had the worst take ever on Tarris Reed, calling him one of " the dumbest players he's seen" when he played at Michigan. Seeing that Hurley turned Tarris into the BE 6th man of the year and one of Uconn's MVP'ers, I guess that Sleepers guy is as clueless as they come..... Or it should probably show a player like Miller, the coach who you commit to can have a major impact on taking your game to the next level !

Make that Saturday ....
"The UConn men’s basketball program should get more clarity on its roster after this weekend. Saturday is the early entry deadline for the NBA Draft, and Alex Karaban hasn’t decided whether he’ll declare or return to Storrs......... When faced with the same predicament last spring, Karaban chose to declare but then withdrew after the Draft Combine. He could take the same approach this year, with the final deadline to withdraw and return to college being May 28, but Karaban said last week that he’d prefer to just rip the band-aid off and make the decision once."

"The Huskies’ captain hasn’t seen much change in his projection this time around. He is projected to go as high as No. 34 overall to the Charlotte Hornets in ESPN’s latest mock draft and No. 37 to the Detroit Pistons in Sports Illustrated’s mock. NBADraft.net has him going No. 44 to the Oklahoma City Thunder and Bleacher Report has him No. 45 to the Chicago Bulls. "

"The other potential question mark on the Huskies’ roster is Georgia transfer Silas Demary Jr., who has been working out for NBA teams to gauge his draft interest and receive feedback. The feeling is that Demary will end up spending his junior season in Storrs unless he gets the idea that he would be selected in the first round. "

Just listened to his full interview above and came away completely impressed with his balance and leadership qualities as a communicator, besides what he adds from a skill set/size perspective. Praying he gets back to Storrs as he seems to provide everything DH needs from an upperclass PG or as DH said, Uconn would have made it to the FF with him on the team last year.

Borges says Karaban decision coming today (finally!) which will impact portal recruiting:
From the who knows file, LOL!....but seeing that Alex was a senior does he have to declare and put his name on a list ??? ...." all signs point to " Or is it just early entry guys...anyway...

So I guess the portal needs are very limited at this point and maybe just a backup at the 4/5. Someone who can come in when foul trouble hits. They could use Karaban as a backup 5 as they did in the past, but ideally someone with more size.

Yep we've both mentioned this for awhile.....Borges too " With that in mind, UConn is still in the market for a back-up power forward/center who'll see minutes behind Reed and Reibe. That recruit could come via the transfer portal or a high school, or off the international market."....."That would bring the Huskies to 11 scholarships. But with men's basketball scholarship limits likely increasing from 13 to 15 beginning next season, pending a judge's ruling on the House vs. NCAA lawsuit, UConn will probably wind up with 13 or 14 scholarship players to add to practice depth. "

I like the idea of an international big man, either a freshman or portal type that can be developed. Someone who has a body to take 5 fouls. This is basically what this spot on the roster comes down to: when Reed, Reibe and Karaban are in foul trouble, a body who can come in, give the Huskies some minutes, and hold down the fort or plug the dam. I thought Singare, when called upon a few times last year to fill this need, looked very serviceable in terms of rebounding and defense. Someone who is approximately on the same level and understands the job description.
