Transfer Portal Opens Tomorrow!

Sammy Calhoun reported Alex K was at the UConn WBB watch party with some other MBB players. Was also seen at at least one of the women's tourney games with J-Ross. This seems to bode well for a return:

" Late in the season, Hurley openly confessed how he wished he had played Ross more. " I think Ross along with Solo, Stewie and the new freshman need to get in the weight room and all add about 10lbs or more of muscle. The Big East is a grown man league featuring alot of older/stronger players . So if they want to be able to fight threw it (and all the screens and holding allowed by BE refs), I think they need to take the Hilton Armstrong training approach. (Left as a 6-11/235 lb lottery pick. ) Maybe use some of that player development Gavin Roberts, when you were a Purdue football player !

Ross's body needs work a lot more than Stewart's or Ball's, but I felt his main issue was that he played too fast many times. This was noticeable going back to the exhibition game against URI, in which Ross looked out of synch with his teammates and was committing TOs from forcing the action.

Acaden Lewis Decommits from Kentucky:
This is a kid that UConn aggressively recruited and it seems like UK portal-recruited over him with experienced players. Possibly he got a better monetary offer elsewhere with UK's money spread out between many portal players.

At this point UConn only has a backup PG job to offer him, and it seems unlikely UConn would remain a match. I do worry that Pitino and SJ, which still needs a PG, will swoop in and grab him. We will have to watch and see what happens.

We are seeing freshman become devalued in the portal era as more and more teams recognize the value of experienced, productive transfers. So it makes me wonder whether Lewis, if he wants to start, will need to settle for a program that does not rely so heavily on portal guards.

77 career starts @ Dayton for this small PG (6 foot ) from the Bronx. Career numbers of .388 3pt/ .740 FT/ 5.3 asst /9.3 pts ... Question is would he take the job and a secondary role in a move up to a high major conference ? Nahiem Alleyne and Joey C. did it as starters to smooth transitions, as key bench pieces, so we shall see.

I would take him as a backup PG, however I think there will be more PT, if not more exposure, elsewhere.

Separately, even if Karaban returns, I think UConn still has a portal need at the 4/5- preferably someone who can backup both positions. If Karaban doesn't return, it's a glaring need. Let's not forget that Reed could be foul prone at times and we can expect Reibe to be foul prone and maybe not ready. So having a serviceable backup who can see minutes at the 4 and 5 would be helpful. This also is where the seasoned mid major starter could be a good portal add.

+1000......This, it's much needed.... a bigger body/rebounder/defender type ...for line-up versatility ( from what I've seen so far Reibe, as big as he is, still needs alot of work in the physicality and strength department)

PS...Reibe is listed on the World roster for tonight's NIKE Summit in Portand @ 10pm -
