One of ESPN's good guys has left the world way to soon... I played a lot of hockey with John back in the 90's. He was still out there lacing em' up playing the game he loved as a kid in Canada then in college. He had a brother Bernie who played in the NHL with Quebec if I recall.....I remember he asked me "seriously, why aren't you playing in the NHL with your size, skill and shot" ....I said it's pretty tough for an American kid who played hoops until his JR year in HS to start the game at 17 years old (as a part time Whalers employee ) ......to make it anywhere in the game when most NHL guys get drafted at 18.....

But had a lot of laughs & good competition with an all around good guy ( of course he is... he's Canadien).........You'll be missed by many...... peace out my brother
