Hartford Courant:
Analyst: Diaco, New Staff Have A Better Handle On Recruiting

"The old staff was a bit long in the tooth and they didn't understand recruiting the way these guys do it now," CBS's Lemming
said. "Recruiting has changed in the last five years mainly because of [Alabama coach] Nick Saban and [Ohio State coach]
Urban Meyer. If you don't work 24-7 on recruiting, 12 months out of the year, you're going to be in trouble. And Lemming said
the enthusiastic, 40-year-old Diaco and his staff arrived just in time to roll with new ideas.

"With respect to who suits our needs for that particular year we'll create a good working list of who those guys are and try
to get them to come to UConn," Diaco said. "[Recruiting sites are] for the people who follow that. There's no knock on it.
It's followed like it's its own competitive arena. We don't do our business that way. When you do your business that way
you make mistakes. We're trying to put the team together and if it creates storylines that are positive that's great. If it
doesn't that's fine, too."

Blades let's hope that Diaco's gang has a better handle on a lot more than PP did. Is it too early to let a little optimism creep in? btw, How the hell does PP end up with another job? Am I missing something really obvious?

Lemming said this is a 12 month process, so we can't expect miracles at the last second and Diaco's not gonna force
in poor students like all these football factories. Just look at Bradford, Marchi and there were rumblings about the grades
of the other 3 star guys that went elsewhere. The PP /GDL days of sign them and send em' to Milford might be over.

Diaco's other quote after pickin' up the pieces from those 2 chumps was: "We were looking at guys that had high grades,
high character and had big bodies," So I'm glad he saved the extra schollies for now.

And speaking of the 2 energy vampires, the Ol boy network is still in full effect, even that loser GDL got a position with
Cleveland, but no where close to anywhere he can do any damage,(then again how much damage can anyone do to
the Browns) So it's probably a perfect fit... a loser working for losers and they hired him as an assistant to an assistant.

More from The Courant :
NCAA this year. [The NCAA] added an extra week which really hurt the transition coaches."

The Huskies are not at 85 scholarships so they have room to add players, but unless something changes Diaco would
prefer to recruit a bigger class in 2015.

UCONN has the right staff in place, now they need the right conference. That will come at some point.

with our success in BB and other sports you would think we would have already been invited to another Conference. FB has had some down years the last few but we were on an upswing before that. Hopefully soon.
