If we end up booking, I'll let you know. The whole corona virus thing has got me spooked - not because I'm afraid to get it, but because I'm afraid they will cancel games and/or play them without audiences. It sounds absurd, but panic leads to poor decision making.I will be there.
I have a very strong background in molecular biology and virology. As I noted, I'm not particularly concerned about getting covid-19. I am, however, concerned that I book a non-refundable flight and then they decide to not have an audience, in which case I'm out a grand.Don’t give in to fear and paranoia. If you want to make concessions to fear and paranoia you can still attend the game wearing a mask. I don’t think they will cancel games, but they could take a hit in attendance for the reasons you mentioned.
It’s almost inevitable now that the AAC will follow the NCAA lead and ban attendance at AAC tournament. Tickets will be refunded. Air fare and hotel will not be. The fans who travelled already can watch games in their hotel rooms.
Well, I'm not sure about this. On the one hand, life happens, and sometimes it doesn't work out and it's time to move on. Also, 5th year seniors hanging around take a spot from incoming freshmen. For every 5th year who gets a year of eligibility, a freshman does not get a scholarship somewhere."The NCAA has decided to address rule changes that would provide avenues for Division I student-athletes in spring sports to regain lost eligibility and is considering the possibility of enacting similar waivers for athletes in winter sports whose seasons were recently cut short. "
USA Today- NCAA seeks rule change so athletes can regain eligibility
On what grounds? Seems very unlikely that high school seniors would have standing to change NCAA eligibility requirements.Any application to winter sports will be shot down in the Courts.
On what grounds?
Well, without researching it, I'm fairly certain the 14th Amendment does not apply to NCAA eligibility rules.Constitutional/equal protection. When you create laws or rules that create a privileged class to the detriment of others not in the protected class, it is always subject to being shot down. This is all just in the talking stage, none of it will actually happen and it will surprise me if there is any inclusion of the winter sports.
I agree with this. The Supreme Court can and has changed laws, I am not sure this particular issue would be the cause of it, but we had this discussion in another thread and the NCAA being viewed as a state actor could happen at some point.
