According to the official stats UConn is 26-94 on the season (27.7%) shooting 3s, which places UConn 312th out of 351 NCAA teams.

DeAndre should have stayed here. This team would be undefeated and on track for a big season.

I'm not sure deandre was ever going to be a consistent goto guy, but his offense would be very welcome right now.

I wonder if Ollie will trap and press more to create offense off of our defense once Calhoun and Purvis mend.

True...but this 3pt thing and shooting woes must be spreading, somewhere between Storrs and AUS
Deandre not only lost his 42% 3pt stroke but his FT's went down too : NBLStats- Deandre Daniels
though he has shot better recently...but DeAndre you could've been a scoring star and first round pick
playing for this team !

True on his Pro stats not being as high, I think that has a lot to do with defensive pressure on the 3ball, not sure about the FT's other than UCONN probably made them practice them more.

This stat reminds me of that Dyson, Sticks & Kemba team that had no outside shooting and were NIT bound. That team at least had some impressive wins vs top competition but the bad losses sunk them. We potentially won't have any good wins and plenty of opportunities within the AAC to rack up bad losses.

Boat really needs to attempt more 3s he's been way too passive in that area and we know he can make them. Only making 5 3s to this point in the season won't cut it. Obviously it would help if Cassell could throw the ball in the ocean and if Omar will ever comeback and make an impact

3 point shooting became a bigger premium when the shot clock went from 45 to 35 and moreso if it goes to 30. When the halfcourt offense breaks down someone will need to jack a shot before the clock expires and either you have guys who can make 3s or not. I was actually reading an article that analyzed data from when they last shortened the shot clock. Shot attempts went up by 4 a game but scoring went down. It's because your forced to take more bad shots because you have less time to set up the offense. This year one reason why the UConn 3 point % is horrid is that there has been no halfcourt offensive movement and the result is rushed shots late in the possession.

It would not be as big a problem if the point guard problem wasn't such an issue. As I said elsewhere the poor assist to turnover and shooting stats are related to each other because bad ball movement means one on one moves late in the clock and bad shots. We have seen too much of that. If the ball is worked around crisply you can isolate someone for a better shot. I think it will get better but I also think UConn may want to recruit a 3 point specialist. Does anyone remember the names Brian Fair or Albert Mouring or Rashad Anderson? Basically all those guys did was shoot the 3 ball. This team desperately needs someone like that.

Boat is only going to take more 3s if he is moved back to shooting guard (where he probably belongs) and someone else is tasked with setting up the offense. Who is that going to be?

If TSam is in the game, he should always bring it up. He really serves no purpose on the wing off the ball as long as he remains zero threat to hit a jumper

I think T Sam was an X factor in the NCAA tournament last year because teams did not have him figured out. They allowed him to penetrate and that is how he did damage in the tournament last year. Texas had a great scouting report on him. They did not guard him on the perimeter and invited drives and when he drove they were ready as T-Sam attempted to bull his way through a mass of bodies only to pick up offensive fouls and TOs. Teams will keep on leaving the perimeter unguarded until UConn sticks some 3s. You can't be a total zero from outside and win in today's college game. UConn has been really good defensively and that is the only reason they were even in the last 2 games.

Another possibility is Cassell at point guard and Boat at shooting guard. That gives UConn its best shooting threats from the perimeter. Hamilton will also have to make some 3s.

If I were Coppin State I would play a lot of zone defense and invite UConn to jack 3s on Sunday. But the good news is this: Coppin State sucks, is 1-8 and has lost to Illinois, Oregon and ND by an average score of about 45. Hofstra also beat them by 41 last game and their only win is over Goldey-Beacom.
