UConn Women Overall #1; Geno Needs 3 NCAA Wins To Tie Summit

Maryland as a #3 is a slap in the face, they should have been a high #2. But you probably will have to beat them at some point anyway.

A potential 5th in a row probably means going through Maryland, ND and the winner of Baylor-SCarolina again. Won't be easy.

Looking like Baylor's road to the final got easier with Coates injury.

Unfortunately UConn is a victim of its success because nobody is seeing this as being a remotely competitive game. Albany is going down.

This article is kinda of ironic looking back:
Geno Auriemma: UConn Fans Spoiled
"I think it's probably natural. I guess we need to win more," said Auriemma, whose teams have won 112 of 113 games, three Big East tournament titles and two national championships in the past three seasons. "Everybody loves a winner, you know.
"Maybe we should offer free parking, more giveaways. We should let some of the fans coach the team, maybe a guest coach every quarter.
Auriemma said he will ask athletic director Jeff Hathaway not to bid on NCAA Tournament play for the next five seasons.

They didn't play Walton's ucla team today, but the Bright spots were KLS 9 assists on a day when her shot wasn't falling. And Kia and Crystal finding their shots at the most critical time of the year.

If Katie Lou racks up assists like that when her shot isn't falling, her shot doesn't need to be falling, because Kia Nurse's was falling. I think Kia is primed to have a huge tournament. I think Kia is the only player on the team (apart from Butler) that has performed below what I was expected on the year from her, but she had been getting stronger as the season went on until she got hurt. Do not be surprised if she has a huge NCAA tournament because the Kia Nurse you saw out there today is how she can play when healthy.

Kia started slowly the first few games and probably felt the pressure as the most experienced returnee. However, then she settled down and played solid basketball until her injury and just needed to get back into a groove. And when you're playing next to 3AA's, someone has to defer and take a role and she usually guards the toughest opposing wing/guard.

I agree that Butler seems less athletic and I can't remember the last time she actually left the ground for a rebound. It will be interesting if she comes back next year. However, we will probably need a few good minutes from her the next 3 weeks.
