There is going to be a legit dialogue over whether this is the deepest UConn team of all time:
Both of UConn's major portal targets were successfully recruited. This team has some serious ball hawks in the backcourt and more depth in the frontcourt than they have had in many years and maybe ever.

UConn should be an easy preseason #1 and memories of the amazing 2004 season when Emeka Okafor and Diana Taurasi led UConn to double championships should be on everyone's minds. There is a strong chance for a double championship!

Blades, your comment is true. This team is ridiculously deep, and they may have to think about some redshirts. They can realistically go only 10 deep but they have 15 girls who appear to be legit UConn players.

On the other hand, UConn was hit so hard with injuries the 5-6 years before last year that you can't blame Geno for wanting more depth. It's arguable that they have way more than they need. In my estimation it's the deepest UConn team ever and these freshman girls who will not play much may all end up being great players. I do think Quinones will play though. She is in a professional league in Italy and has been playing against former UConn player Dorka Juhasz in the championship series of the Italian pro league. I believe she will be a rotation player off the bench. But think about it- they will have a European pro player coming off the bench. This team has SICK talent and depth.

I was not surprised they landed Serah William in the portal because I think she will start. And she will be a good veteran to mentor the less experienced bigs. But I thought Heckel would go to ND. Have no idea how Geno sold her because UConn has 3 very good experienced guards in KK Arnold, Fudd and Shade and she is a 4th guard at best. I have heard she is a ball hawk like Nika Muhl, and freshman Kelis Fisher also has that reputation. And we know KK is a ball hawk so he has a flock of them. Geno likes this type of guard. I have no idea how it will shake out but I think the starting 5 will be:

Sarah Strong
Serah Williams
Jana El Alfy
KK Arnold
Azzi Fudd

Geno has shown he likes 3 guard lineups that can press and trap, so they could bring El Alfy off the bench and start Shade with Arnold and Fudd. Geno has endless possibilities with this group.
