Jay Rose will be in action for Southington against Conard. I'll be at that one.

Keyion Dixon's Glastonbury team will be taking on Newtown High, which has LB prospect Ben Mason, who has been to a couple of UConn games. We will have a reporter there as well.

I was on the sideline for the Newtown win over Glastonbury-

Even in a sloppy environment, Keyion Dixon showed quickly that he was the best athlete on the field with his 85-yard punt return as seen above. He also threw an 82-yard touchdown on a pass down the right sideline, dropping the ball right in the bucket to the receiver. On defense he was dominant, allowing nothing to his side all night, and making multiple open field tackles where his quickness and agility were on display. As far as the run game went, a lack of creativity held him in check for most of the contest, but he showed a consistent ability to make the first man miss.

Another UConn target on the other side, Ben Mason for the Nighthawks, was a key contributor to the winning team's effort. Clogging the middle all night and making it hard for Glastonbury's run game to get going, Mason was a physical presence for Newtown's defense. He added two touchdown runs, and converted a critical 4th and 3 on the ground in the fourth quarter to keep his team alive. Newtown will take on Shelton in the state semi-final.
