Premature Use of Timeouts

i don't know if you guys watched the Rhode Island - Oregon game but it seemed to me that Danny Hurley (URI coach) panicked as Oregon made its second half run at URI, used up all his timeouts, and then with URI down 3 and needing a 3 to tie, they couldn't call a timeout to diagram a play but instead hoisted a brick and then an air ball from 3 point land. In a close game, why wouldn't you always save one timeout for a possible last play?

Im on the fence about that to be honest I think it depends on personnel & how coaches have developed the team.

Take KO for example he writes up a brand new play to start every half and obviously it confuses everyone so unless he's crafting new and exciting ways to create transition opportunities for the opposing team then maybe keeping it simple would be the better option.
