I think Minnesota was in the championship game two seasons ago and lost to Union, which UConn beat last year. I saw that championship game and Minnesota got blitzed with 3 quick goals at the end of the second period. Union completely outskated them. Speed can be lethal in hockey when you cannot counteract it because you have slow lumbering defenseman.

The Huskies had a rough stretch early but are now in the middle of the pack in Hockey East (standings)..........they're back at the XL Friday for the first time in about a month and a half ( game is also on NESN):

I haven't really followed the hockey team but they have beaten some very good teams, and shown improvement lately. It's good to see.

By the way does the Big 12 have any teams that play hockey? I know the Big 10 does. I was actually very surprised to learn Arizona State (which UConn has beaten 3 times this year) has a hockey program. I assume they play in the same arena as the Arizona Coyotes and benefit from their fanbase.

No hockey teams in the Big 12( just like the AAC), which would be great if Uconn ever joined them, then they could stay in Hockey East , great for travel along with remaining in the best Hockey conference....ASU made a big jump from club level to D-1 this year, could be a a rising star in recruiting and it already shows with a bunch of transfers from D-1 hockey schools, what's not to love with destination hockey in the sunshine for the Canadian and northern kids ........ASU is playing as an independent in year one, but there have been some rumors that the B1G is talking to them as an associate member in hockey... along with Uconn or Notre Dame as a partner. Obviously Uconn would only go as a full member, but I could see Notre Dame as a hockey only in the B1G since they're already bitching about the travel as the only mid-west member in Hockey East
