This is completely surprising to me, apparently was to Turgeon and IMHO a complete overreaction to a bad start. First of all 5-3 is not a HORRIBLE start even if they were ranked in the top 25. It is not uncommon in college basketball for top 25 teams to lose some early season games they shouldn't, even to unranked teams, and later rebound and gel after conference play starts. I think when you have fans and boosters who set expectations WAY too high, it's a problem. Although I was never particularly a fan of Turgeon, I think he is a good coach, and did not deserve this, unless something else is going on which does not seem to be the case:
