As I posted in 2018...."the BE isn't going anywhere ( if Uconn wanted a second look now that their AAC exit money is drying up ) "
Bump.......here's where it all started ......thread from March 2018......

Official Realistic Options for Next HC of UCONN

HUGE SHOUT OUT ! ..to Dave Benedict for choosing right twice ( and looks like 3 times w/FB HC Mora) by putting Uconn back in it's rightful spot in the Big East and back to the mountaintop of CBB lead by Dan Hurley !

Amazing looking back in the thread above to the darker days from where that fraud of a coach left us and to the ultimate choice of the Hurley brand and the Uconn brand making the Huskies great again. Also shout out to all the former posters ( Uconn fans) in that thread who used to join us in the conversation here at Uconn Rivals but left during the infamous KO years and the trainwreck he caused.

But without it we don't get DH, so once again thanks to the Uconn AD, Coach Hurley/ staff, those newest of Husky players and legends.... along with those posters who've continued to follow it on this platform, for an amazing journey.... We're back !

In retrospect I am glad UConn hired Hurley and not Pitino. Hurley clearly improved the team and the roster each year he was at UConn. The transfer portal adds were perfect not just in talents being suited for roles on the team to help the returning core, but also they were good chemistry adds and accepted their roles. The team was extremely unselfish, and got contributions from all their rotational players throughout the tournament.

What was most impressive to me is the way that UConn played defense after the terrible 2 week stretch when they had 29 and 25 foul games. After the 29 and 25 foul games I thought they would be vulnerable against athletic teams with guys who would just drive the hole. But it didn't happen. They played such teams in Arkansas, Miami and to a lesser extent SDSU, and the concerns about having 25 plus foul games never materialized. UConn buttoned down the defense with team effort in plugging gaps and protecting the rim. SDSU shooting 32% capped a tournament in which UConn didn't allow more than 35% FG shooting, which is remarkable. This is the reason why they won their NCAA tourney games by 20 ppg- combination of very good offense and stifling defense. I don't think any UConn team ever was this balanced. The 2004 team was close, but even their tournament run was not as dominant as this one. All credit to the coaching staff and the players for accepting their roles and learning how to play team defense.

Lease we forget...... what was amazing is Dan had this team trending in the right direction, even recruiting in the old AAC, finishing his season with 5 strait wins... heading into the tourney time with a W over top seed Houston. Then Covid stopped everything that year ( 2019-2020).

So he proved "it's coming" even though he took this job with Uconn as an AAC school and with the Big East not even on the radar for him or any of us.

Great interview of DH with Seth Greenberg (another NYC area former HC) about his journey to picking Uconn, the NC and on the decisions regarding coming to Storrs, as an AAC school. Also touches on how quick even after a NC he has to get back to building the roster for next year.

Another thing that DH should be credited with is, that unlike Pitino and most coaches taking over a new program, he never ran KO's guys off the team. Instead he worked with what he had and tried to improve Uconn and up those players games. So shout out for that to DH and what he did for those above like Jalen, Polley, Whaley and Vital too. It's interesting he won the Natty with all guys that him, Kimani, Tom Moore and Co brought to Uconn in the very 1st year with all their own recruits.
