I am interested in going to the Maui Classic and am wondering if anyone knows whether packages can be booked through UConn. When I went to Battle of Atlantis in 2011, I did book the land package through a UConn travel package but did flights on my own.
I have a couple of concerns about doing the Hawaii trip. One is I don't like flying all that much and while 3-4 hour flights are tolerable, I understand I am signing up for total air time of 11 plus hours to get to and from Hawaii. The other concern is what is actually left in Lahaina as far as hotel accommodations etc.? I understand that 80% of the island of Maui was burned to the ground in the August 2023 fire, including buildings surrounding the Lahaina Civic Center - which was apparently unscathed by the fire. What kind of stay am I signing up for?
If anyone has any info or insights please share. The possibility exists for me to take that entire week off, see the 3 UConn games, and then spend Thanksgiving with my sister who lives in the San Francisco area where I will fly on the way back.
