Actually it is the Recruiting Period.

I'm pretty sure you know the difference @Dr.O1 but for the benefit of others:

The difference between that and the "Live Period" is that in the Recruiting period college coaches can have contact with high school seniors (no contact with underclassmen is permitted) & their families during in-home visits and/or in-school visits.

Coaches can also meet with HS administrators, teachers etc to learn more about what kind of student the recruit is.

Coaches can watch HS organized open gyms, workouts, weight lifting sessions etc.; as long as it is organized/scheduled by the HS.

During the Live Period (typically associated with AAU Tournaments) the coaches are permitted to watch games but not have contact with the players or their families. The tournaments even set up a "Coaches only" entrance/exit, restrooms and hospitality room for meals and refreshments.
