The Villanova/Xavier Big East Tournament championship game drew a 0.3 overnight rating on Fox Sports 1
Saturday night, down 40% from Providence/Creighton last year (0.5), and down 86% from Louisville/Syracuse on ESPN
in 2013 (2.1).

The Wildcats' win had a lower overnight than every college basketball telecast on CBS and ESPN over the

weekend (12 telecasts).
The game was trounced head-to-head by the ACC championship game on ESPN (2.3) and also earned a substantially
lower overnight than the ( Uconn-SMU ) championship of the American Athletic Conference - the 'old' Big East -
the following day (1.3)
. I'd guess Uconn being in the final had alot to do with that ?

So what is it exactly that Fox is paying for if it's not getting ratings from this new "Big East" ?

and a few others for comparison:

1.13 rating ESPN -PAC-12 Championship: Oregon vs #5-Arizona
1.20 rating CBS Mountain West Championship: Wyoming vs San Diego State
1.59 rating ESPN Big 12 Championship: #13-Iowa State vs #9-Kansas
1.95 rating ESPN SEC Championship: #21-Arkansas vs #1-Kentucky
2.63 rating CBS Big Ten Championship: Michigan State vs #6-Wisconsin ( head to head vs. Uconn-SMU)

Obviously the Fox money will eventually go elsewhere. It was probably a Villanova graduate working at Fox that brokered that contract. That is how it works. That is how ND got the crazy contract with NBC.
