from the HC: Steven Enoch Shows Promise In UConn Win

"[Enoch] was [going to be] the first big off the bench," coach Kevin Ollie said. "He has performed very well in practice, and that's what I went with, and Phil's got to stay with it. Phil came in and got us two good stops at the end of the game, really held on to the game for us."

"We can't have Kentan, our starting five-man, get five fouls in nine minutes," Ollie said. "He's got to learn to stay on the court, and Shonn Miller's got to learn to stay on the court, too. He had some questionable fouls. He has to be very smart for us because he's one of our key players, and we need him on the court."

I was talking with a co-worker/Uconn fan about that this morning. Phil's butt was nailed to that bench until the last possible time he could be put it. And he went in and did his thing in those few moments. Good for Phil.

Did you guys see how Steve rolled to the hoop on every pick and roll and the guards never even looked his way? He seems quick on his feet and unlike our other 5's he seems to have some offensive skills as well. Good that he got time but he really needs to learn to play without fouling so much. I like the future with him in it though.

LST,

I agree with everything you said on Enoch. He also grabbed some tough traffic rebounds that he ripped away from the crowd and I think he will do that regular as well as supply some offense. UConn is going to likely be force feeding him lots of minutes as I see Facey in perpetual foul trouble at the 5. I think Ollie made up his mind that Facey was playing very well and rebounding well so he got the first look at the 5. He will likely get a pass on the Tulane 9 minute foul-out, due to the horrendous officiating, but if it happens again they will have to put him to backup 4 and use Enoch and Nolan at the 5.

Glad I wasnt the only one that thought the officiating was terrible. It was so one sided even the announcers said, " They are letting them play ON THIS END ". We couldnt get a call in the paint all game, but boy if we looked at them cross eyed it was a foul. Glad we managed to overcome it though.

It was really bad but one thing I would point out is that Tulane played aggressively and put them selves in position to get calls in their favor. They took it to the hole. Sometimes when the home team does that they get calls.
