James Bouknight's recent surge has earned him high praise from coaches, fans, and the media, so him being named AAC Player of the Week came as no surprise. What may provide a little bit of shock and awe are reports that NBA scouts have already begun reaching out to college basketball recruitment analysts to look into his background and gauge his potential at the professional level.

While Bouknight is showing early signs of NBA-level talent and the ability to make big plays, this news may seem like it's coming at least a year too soon, especially to fans who are enjoying watching him light up the court in a UConn uniform.

We want to hear what our StorrsCentral followers think: Is James ready for the next level after his freshman season concludes, or should he spend another year (or more) under Coach Hurley's tutelage before taking his talents to the NBA?

He should definitely stay at least one more year. He is no where near ready to defend an NBA caliber guard and needs to continue to improve his jumpshot.

James is a phenomenal talent. That written, he probably needs one more year to maximize his lifetime earnings. This kid will get paid to play basketball, but there is a calculus to be considered. Going now, he is probably late 1st round, D league. Next year? Probably lottery. Math favors him staying.
