It's officially the first time a 1 seed didn't make the Elite 8. Is this really a surprise? What's a surprise maybe is how poorly all of the 1 seeds performed, except for Alabama before tonight. This is a strong message and punishment for the poorly informed amateur betters who mostly bet seeding.
Moving forward, it still looks like UConn has a tougher road to the finals than does Creighton. UConn v. Gonzaga winner would face Xavier-Texas winner in the Final 4. Creighton could be waiting for whomever emerges from UConn's side of the bracket.
