School record 16 3 pointers on 16-24 attempts, school record!

USF played a soft zone and they suck, but the zone offense executed well.

Also, a 15 point outburst by Enoch including a hammer dunk off an O-board!

I know USF is terrible, but It was like I was watching the girls!

Most encouraging thing is the got back in the game before the half and Rodney hit a big three at the buzzer to put us up 10. And they never took their foot off the gas.

Best developments were the young bigs, Enoch and Durham. And Jackson may not shoot it like Fish Fry so far, but he can put it on the floor and do things that Rashad never could.

4 biggest factors for next year.

1. Jalen returns.
2. Young bigs continue to develop and we get contributions from one more(Diarra, Juco, grad transfer?).
3. Larrier fits in chemistry wise and does little things to win games, not just score.
4. Stay healthy, especially Gilbert.

UConn shot 62.5% as a team Enoch 6-6 FGs, 15 points, Durham 8 and Vitale 12 so there were 37 points off the bench if you also include Noyes' first FG of the year!

You like that KSTW! You like that!!!

Guys looked fluid and healthier. Need to see this out of Durham as I said he needs to be Facey like on D and down low next year and if we get another rim protector will be solid! As Enoch showed what he will bring little scoring and boards space eatsr type.

Keep this momentum and please stay healthy with the 8 guys the rest of this season!!

Normally I would say those three's going in will give them the thought they can do that every night but NOT THIS TIME. These guys needed this, a blow out where everything was falling. I loved the shooting touch but for me it was the passing and defense.

I really like Jackson's potential and gosh darn it if Enoch would just get it in gear the kid CAN BE GOOD. Durham will also be someone to watch, wasnt he the highest rated recruit ? Could have good group to see grow.

Facey will get a D-League invite and make a team. NBA scouts can do something with him.

Look I lova ya, dont take this the wrong way
You should have had a period instead of a comma after "they suck"
Everything else after "they suck" should be stricken from the record your honor

Celebrating wins over USF...........cmon baby, you better than that.
Is this what it has sunk too?
People accepting the level of basketball this has QUICKLY become??????

CFP- Well no doubt USF sucks and does not play good defense, but in basketball you still have to make open shots and execute even against horrible teams. UConn lost to some weak teams earlier this year due to poor shooting and poor execution and last night the shooting and execution was great. 16-24 on 3s is a VERY CROOKED number, I would not be so excited if it was like 16-42 but 16-24 I don't think I have ever seen before. Yes most of those were wide open shots against a very soft zone, but a bunch of them were deep, and all 16 went in! I normally do not get too excited over wins against bottom feeding, goat ball sucking teams, but it is apparent sometimes watching a team play that improvement is happening. 28 assists is also a crooked number..........it doesn't happen to any team playing selfish ball hogging basketball.

With the 16-24 3 pointers made last night, UConn's 3 point FG% has shot up to 35%, which is respectable, considering it was around 30% just a few weeks ago:

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/team/stats/_/id/41/connecticut-huskies

It's close to average for D-1 basketball teams. UConn would rank around 190 of 347 teams with the current %. The mean for D-1 teams this year shooting the 3 is around 35.4%- that would be average and at 34.9% UConn is just below that.

I didn't see a minute of this game so I can't comment on it...( season tix to both hockey & hoops....AD decides to schedule both games at the same time/same night and I chose Hockey...shorter drive)....here's a follow up from the Courant:

" Except for the two-point win over Syracuse on Dec. 5 at Madison Square Garden, it is true the Huskies, 11-12, are essentially devoid of any quality wins. The 97-51 rout of South Florida on Wednesday night, before only 6,114 fans at Gampel Pavilion, certainly doesn't qualify as a quality RPI win. After all, the Bulls are one of the weakest teams on the schedule.......Yet make no mistake. This was a quality performance. "

"Everybody contributed," coach Kevin Ollie said. "It was a complete game."
" I know. I know......So why get so optimistic?.....It's not optimism, folks.......It is demands......Before packing it in and chalking the disaster up to a lousy start and a lousier string of injuries that left UConn with six scholarship players for a stretch, take a look at the remaining schedule.......And demand.......To demand less the final month is a slap in the face of a proud program that Jim Calhoun built. "

The 6114 fans is very disappointing to say the least. I wonder when they had such a small crowd before. Back in the day I had season tickets for almost 20 years and never recall a crowd that small on a regular season game.

Blades, I saw the entire game last night and I think Jacobs' article is on target. It was a quality performance. We as fans have a right to expect that this team perform, if not at that level, then at a better level than they have performed this year. USF is a bad team, we all know this, but UConn looked like a different and more explosive team last night. There was a lull they hit after the opening 17-1 run, but then they started the second half with a 33-2 run and we have not seen these kinds of runs even against weaker teams. Adams was fantastic, Purvis shot the ball well and although he did have a few TOs and bad plays (stepped out of bounds again, have no idea why he does this), he was passing the ball, in fact he made a GREAT pass to VItale for a 3 when he also could have taken a 3 but Vitale was open and set. Now that Enoch and Durham are back and playing ball it's reasonable to demand that this team do better and finish either 4-3 or 5-2 as Jacobs suggests they can. 5-2 could get them a bye for the AAC tourney and that is all that matters now because it's clear there will be no NCAA tournament without winning the AAC tourney.

2 things on attendance ....... Welcome to KO's mediocrity and the weak presale/season ticket holder draw of playing teams in the AAC. It happens when you lose main draws/ rivals( premier games) like Syracuse, Pitt, Ville, even Notre Dame & there's no guarantee that the new Big East without them would draw any better with leftovers ( like Depaul, Seton Hall, etc. ) and a bunch of new mid western teams that Uconn fans don't care about...... G-Town and Nova ( we can schedule them OOC and have) are the 2 main draws and everything else is iffy.

I know my whole row of season tickets holders that I talked to & sat with at Gampel for over 20 years packed it in after Calhoun retired and the reality of the AAC schedule
settled in.... What KO has been doing during the regular season( mediocrity) is all that matters to the ticket buying public and he hasn't been helping the home attendance
in that sense one bit.

Let's hope last night gives this group confidence. We all know USF couldn't beat oak hill academy, but they made a run to cut it two two possessions late in the first half and early in the year, we would have had to sweat that game out. So they are making strides.

That being said, good players and programs, do it consistently.

That is the problem, we have seen only flashes of good play from this team and they have performed very unevenly and inconsistently. Let's hope their best ball is in the weeks ahead.
