UConn Rises To #17 in AP Poll

Uconn sill in the top 15 rankings where it matters. And the BE will be both a war and a rankings booster for the teams that win, with currently 8 of 11 in the Top 75. .......ACC kinda sucks this year with more than half the 15 teams below 100.

And looking back the old American only has 4 in the top 75 and 3 of those (Cincy, UCF, Houston) are leaving for the Big 12. So much for Aresco's hoops conference, they still have 3 below 220 bottom feeders plus with his expansion he's adding 4 more teams in the 200 to 300 range)..... the A-10 will be better..... ( Mr. Power 6..... LOL ! )

Just a refresher why top 75 is important:

UConn is staying or should be staying high in the NET because they are still the only team to beat Auburn which is 14-1 and ranked #4 in the AP poll.

Auburn is at Alabama tonight in what figures to be a tremendous battle between possibly the 2 best SEC teams which are dueling for not only SEC supremacy but State of Alabama supremacy.

Blades, you beat me to the punch on this. Interesting to note that Auburn which is #2 in the AP poll is #1 in the CBS poll, in which UConn is also #25. A huge game will occur Saturday when Auburn faces #12 Kentucky in what could be a battle for SEC supremacy. Kentucky has been on a roll as of late, and just got a couple of injured starters back.

Meanwhile, UConn got some limited juice from the OT win over St.John's, which blew out Georgetown last night.

Meanwhile UConn is #15 in the all important NET, suggesting a 4 seed:

Here's the updated (thru MAR 2nd) BE rankings in the NCAA's NET. Uconn didn't lose much (dropped 1 spot) after a 2 point, Quad 1 road loss. Xavier can't keep pilling up losses if the BE is expecting to get 7 teams in the tourney. Also big win (home vs. top 30- Quad 1 ) to get off the bubble for Creighton's chance to sneak into the tourney field with an at large bid. Also Depaul will come into Gampel Saturday with a 3 game win streak after a Quad 2 win last night vs. Marquette .
