UConn MBB Targets At National Prep Showcase

Notre Dame Prep (MA) and Fork Union just finished up, with a three-pointer as time expired being the difference in the win for Fork Union. Notre Dame Prep has four players currently committed to D1 schools, UMass, Quinnipiac, Wisc-Milwaukee and Tulsa.

South Kent (CT) just tipped off against Hargrave Military Academy (VA). Hargrave has eight players currently committed to D1 schools, while South Kent has four, including players heading to Georgetown and Syracuse.

South Kent also has 2017 UConn target Tremont Waters.

Hargrave is up 40-29 on South Kent at the half.

Early thoughts on Waters:

• Very small, but tough and skilled
• Likes to shoot the three, hasn't made one yet
• At his best creating and dishing, which he does extremely well

Hargrave just beat South Kent. They got out to a big first-half lead, kept it going through the second, and held off a late surge to get the win. Interview and thoughts on Tremont Waters will be coming in an article.

21 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds for Tremont Waters in South Kent's 100-80 win over Montverde

Will have an article on it later this week, but Putnam Science Academy, which has one UConn commit and a couple of targets, played two games, here are some highlights:

• Double-double for UConn Class of 2016 commit Mamadou Diarra on Day 1 in a 53-51 win over Sunrise Christian School.
• Teammate Hamidou Diallo, who UConn has been recruiting heavily, scored 13 points. He entered the game with 16 minutes left in the second half.
• Putnam Science beat Montverde 90-70 on Day 2 with its entire team, and without a single player scoring in double digits. Diarra had 6 points and 5 rebounds. Diallo had 8 and 3.
• Chuba Ohams, who is also believed to be a UConn target, followed up a quiet first game with an 8-point, 3-rebound performance, shooting 4-4 from the field.
• Manny Umoffia, a 7-foot-2 center in the class of 2018, didn't play in PSA's first game but had a nice performance in his first outing.

Day 3: Watched Makai Ashton-Langford and Wabissa Bede play for Cushing Academy. They lost to a very talented Blair Academy team, 61-57. Langford scored 6 and Bede scored 9.
