Tremont Waters asks for release from Georgetown

Thats too bad, I wonder if something happened or if he committed without ever developing a relationship with the program...

Either way it's quite the luxury to not really care where he lands

It sounded like Jalen is coming back, but you never know. But if not and crazier things have happened, it opens up a spot.

What happened is Georgetown sucked moose balls, and finished near the bottom of the Big East. Not sure where Jalen Adams would be going because (1) he isn't on any NBA Draft boards, and (2) he is only a good player and far from a great one on the college level and (3) he had durability and stamina issues all year. First Team All-AAC basically means shit.

UConn has zero chance of getting him. Many of the top teams need a PG next year and it's absurd to believe would go someplace where 2 PGs are ahead of him.

Jalens coming back. He doesn't want to spend time in the D League and this years draft is unbelievably deep.

Hope you're right because I agree with Anderson that he should be a super star next year, almost every night.

I just think he might be better equipped than our last two early entrants, Daniels and Hamilton. He's a scoring PG with good size off the bench. And this is a potential league.

I thought Hamilton could find a niche on the right team because of his passing, but he's an ordinary athlete at a position of freaks.

Daniels was taking advantage of a dominant post season run he may not have been able to duplicate the following season.

Hamilton very much disliked the college experience.

I think both of those guys were served by leaving early, I think Jalen would be making a huge mistake if he left now.

Jalen is definitely capable of taking it to a higher level than what he performed at this year and I fully expect that. He will be more effective next year playing off the ball.

Regarding Daniels, he played out of his mind in the 2014 NCAA tournament, the game against Iowa State standing out in mind as he made numerous extremely difficult shots in that game. He played his best basketball at the end of his junior year so I kind of understand why he left.

Hamilton wasn't a good athlete or a good shooter, and when you are neither you should stay in school, but he clearly wasn't interested in staying in school as exemplified by hiring an agent and then having a horrible combine.

Jalen will ofcourse be back.

Tremont would have been good with MAL

Unfortunately for him we don't need another pg especially at 5 10. He is good tho!!

Also I believe he left because there maybe writing on the wall that JT3 time is done or coming to a close real soon.

Have to imagine UConn is interested, the staff was before and UConn made his top 7.

However, CT HS sources suggest he'll be looking elsewhere, which isn't crazy given the Huskies' crowded guard room. Sounds like Kansas and Syracuse are among the leaders.

Nothing can be said officially as Waters has yet to officially receive release from Georgetown.

Thank you for the update Aman. Tangentially related do we know Vital is coming back? His last tweet seemed a little off to me (probably reading into it too much) and it is going to be a crowed back court assuming Jalen comes back. If Vital left would that entice Tremont at all to come to UConn?

We can't lose Vital. He's one of our most competitive players.

That would set our program back the next three years.

I agree, I don't want him to go anywhere. Just throwing out some hypotheticals. Plays with so much passion and showed great ability on defense and ability to shoot outside shot

Are you referring to his "UConn Thank You" tweet? I don't interpret "thank you" the same as "goodbye".

Lol losing Vital or any of these freshman to transfer would be a problem for KO personally, let's hope its Internet rumors

+1 regarding Jalen, he's far more equipped than either of those 2 were positionally for the league, who both thought they were ready and became a massive draft day fails by not getting picked in the first (for guaranteed $ mil ) like a ton of kids do every year. A year later or 2 ( in D-Ham's case) after they ran out of college options, they would both know for certain if they could improve their stock to a first rounder at no financial risk to them accept time ( but with a degree as a benefit). Then if not, they could still be playing were they did this year. For the 90 cents less on the dollar because they jumped into the draft too soon.... in the D-league ( for about $20-25K) or maybe a $100k or so overseas if your in the right league and actually get paid what your contract says and/or if your team doesn't have money problems( read alot of those horror stories too)

It's one more reason I like the college hockey or even the baseball model. That the kids get picked but can still play in college until the NHL team is ready to sign them. But the NBA doesn't want that because it'd force more negotiations and risk on the league. Especially when they see the way baseball works. When if the team doesn't sign the pick out of HS for a big bonus to send them to the minors, the player has leverage because he can get re-drafted 3 years later.

Yes and that's what happened with Gerrit Cole who is now the Pittsburgh Pirates' best starting pitcher. The Yankees drafted him out of high school but he held out for a zillion dollars and they didn't give it to him. He then went to UCLA and was redrafted 3 years later as the #1 overall pick. The Pirates were forced to then pay him accordingly. In effect Cole bet on himself and won that bet. It's too bad the Yankees didn't offer him more money because he would be their #1 starter too and the Yankees I think need another reliable starter or two although they have a massive amount of young position player talent who will be becoming household names in the next 3 years starting with Gary Sanchez and Greg Bird. These are guys that can be controlled by the Yankees relatively cheaply until they are around 27 years old at which they will command huge contracts.

Uconn's George Springer is another example of that KSTW, drafted out of Avon Old farms by the Twins( 48th rd), didn't sign... got to go to college...then moved all the way up to the 11th pick in the 1st round after 3 years as a Husky
