For UConn to not be ranked while teams with the same 17-6 record like Wichita State are ranked (not to mention Baylor, Kentucky and Iowa State- all 17-6) is mystifying. In the coaches poll UConn isn't getting a single vote while teams like Stony Brook and Arkansas Little Rock even have a vote. Head scratcher.

Villanova is #1 but in all their games against top teams they were hammered and if they play UConn on a neutral court tomorrow it's at least even money UConn beats them.

Keep disrespecting us media... It's how we always have liked it!!! :)

One other thing.......how is Texas #24 in one poll and #25 in the other with a 16-7 record and UConn (17-6) beat them on their own court?????????? That alone should have UConn ranked ahead of Texas.

I prefer it this way anyway. The polls are for discussional purposes but the last 2 NC trophies we won were with teams, i believe, not ranked in the top 25 at the end of the reg season. Let me ask you guys this.....forget about Texas, Wichita St, et al....do you really think UC is a top 25 team right now? Unfortunately, I'm not ready to say that at this point...and let's remember, yes they played well against Memphis...but isn't Memphis 4-6 in the AAC? We still have a ways to go, IMHO, to earn the respect....we had it preseason, then lost it. Let's earn it back with W's against the top AAC teams...here comes Temple, Cincy & SMU. We sweep and u know we've earned it and will get it.

Yes I believe UConn should be ranked about 21 (they are actually 22 in the BPI Blades posted). And ranked #21 is where UConn was at the end of each of the 2011 and 2014 seasons when an NCAA title followed.

Memphis is actually 5-5 AAC not 4-6, having upset Cincy in their game after being blown out by UConn. Granted, they are not the greatest team, but they don't suck and UConn handed both Memphis and UCF (another team that doesn't suck) their respective worst losses of the season on their home courts in consecutive games. Additionally UConn #2 in the nation in FG defense%, #9 in FTs% and has held 10 straight opponents under 40% FG shooting, which IMHO is very impressive- all but 3 of those games were without Brimah.

However I agree it's all about what UConn does from here on out. UConn is a #8 seed and they really can't have any more bad losses.

I agree with you guys.... it's redemption week, got to care of business..... this is all window dressing for now, but if we can see some payback wins vs. Temple & Tulsa to start with, then the SMU game will mean that much more...

KSTW, u sound like Charlie Browns teacher to me. It's cool that u think that. But, I'm pretty sure as a lawyer u understood my point about Memphis and UC league wins. Nothing u throw out will change my opinion....at this point. Just like I gave my opinion that ABriham would not be going in this years draft and u countered by stating the draft goes by potential. No worries...we both want the same thing...it's all good. Now, if this were the big east and they were shutting teams down like this I'd be a little more willing to see ur point about our D. But if we can't admit that some of these AAC teams are horrific offensively were just kidding ourselves...IMHO.

Shaggy,

There may be some statistical evidence to support your argument about the horrific offenses in the AAC. In 10 AAC conference games, UConn is holding AAC opponents to a horrendous 34.9% FG shooting, while in all games the number is 36.8%, now 2nd best in the country behind San Diego State.

On the other side of the ledger, UConn is only shooting 41.7% in AAC conference games, as opposed to 46.4% in all games. Some of this, of course, is Hamilton's horrible shooting slump over the first 7 AAC games, in which he shot around 24% or so.

UConn is 1st in the AAC in scoring defense and in FG% defense and FT% (by a lot). UConn is a distant 2nd in FG% on offense to SMU, which is shooting over 50% FGs on the season. UConn is 2nd in the AAC in 3 point FG% and 3rd in 3 point FG% defense.

The only statistical category in which UConn is not middle of the AAC pack or better is rebounding. UConn is bottom of the pack in overall rebounding and dead last in offensive rebounds with 9.6 a game. This latter stat is a total shock to me. But it really speaks to the lack of size of the UConn big men other than Enoch, who doesn't play much.
