Interesting but after the way he handled the firing of Rick Barnes, and Barnes' subsequent accusations that Patterson had demanded that Barnes fire his staff (and then fired Barnes when he refused), I thought that this guy has to look like an idiot to the Texas administrators. You can't make an ultimatum like that to someone who has a long reputation of loyalty to his coaches, and expect him to suddenly stab his people in the back. People who are loyal are always loyal, and people who backstab eventually show who they are. From what this article says he got the job over the far more experienced (at being an AD) Oliver Luck, based mostly on an excellent interview with Texas administrators. It just shows that sometime people who can talk a good game can't walk the walk and execute the AD playbook. Other than hiring Shaka Smart, which was kind of a no brainer, this guy was just one bad decision after another:

Ah yes, the irony of the Shaka Smart gone again from his latest gig at VCU and now on to be the newest mercenary for Texas. Remember some of the fans that were all over Shaka or Brad Stevens and wanted no part of KO ?......wonder what those Husky fans think now ?
