RJ Cole (Howard Transfer)

Is somebody transferring ? They already lost 1 scholly for next year because of KO, do they use another one on a guy who has to sit, while they still haven't done anything to address another legit big ? Didn't Hurley get his ass kicked enough yet by teams w/ real bigs to understand that is a pressing need ?

Guess so. Hurley is looking to fill two spots per Borges, and one of them will be a big man: https://www.nhregister.com/uconn/article/UConn-looking-to-fill-out-next-year-s-roster-13777268.php

Dam your quick TCF....Nice find ....I usually follow Borges on twitter... hadn't read that one yet...I guess we don't get to speculate on who...I know that's not allowed on some other Uconn board....;)

" However, no players have sought to leave the program since the season ended a month ago. And that’s fine with Hurley, who has stated numerous times over the past year that it’s not his style to run players off a team."

Two sit one year out kids is nice but hard to get excited about.

Precious is coming to UConn

So is Diamond Stone......

Stone was more highly rated than Achiuwa and he can’t even keep a job in the NBA G League although he did win a G League ring this year with the Vipers. More due to lucky circumstances than anything he did.

UConn doesn’t need Achiuwa. They need solid 2 and 4 year guys. I see Cole as similar to Broome with Cincy. He will come in and be a solid contributor right off the bat and maybe even star caliber, but I would even take John Gwynn type production off the bench if that’s what they get out of him.

It will be interesting to see how Hurley works out the plan Borges mentioned ( above) from Thursday's NHR -UConn looking to fill out roster with big man

Borges probably knows more than all of us regarding the speculation. But what he wrote in his article kind of contradicts itself. We all see that a big who can play now is the #1 priority.

Borges wrote:
" The Huskies are still beating down the recruiting path, looking to fill two spots. Ideally, they would be a transfer (almost certainly a big man) who’d have to sit a season or, perhaps, receive an NCAA waiver to play right away, along with a premium talent who could help immediately this season."

So why would he write the most pressing need is a big man who'd have to sit a year ?.....when they need one to back-up Carlton immediately ? What Borges wrote should probably be the other way around ....they need a big man who can help immediately this season." And then they can go after a premium talent who'd have to sit a year ( Cole)..... But in that case we still don't know who is coming off scholly to open a 2nd one if Cole were to transfer (and have to sit a year) at Uconn.

It was a bad job by Borges' editor, and I would throw him or her under the bus. If you take this part of the sentence:

(almost certainly a big man)

and cut and paste it after "along with a premium talent", the whole sentence makes sense using the exact same words.

As a law review editor I used to do that, and won some award the law school handed out for "Outstanding Legal Scholarship", which in reality was an award for being a diligent editor of people who needed editorial eyes on their work.

Uconn offers another 2019 guard ?....Recently from 24/7- " College coaches are searching for available guards in the 2019 class, and Nah'shon Hyland (profile-) is among the best available. ---The schools that have prioritized him are Maryland, DePaul, Georgetown, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, TCU, Seton Hall, Saint Joseph’s and Temple. Thus far he’s taken visits to Saint Joseph’s and Temple." ....... Is there a guard leaving Uconn ???
