HARTFORD – Daniel Hamilton posted the 11th triple double in UConn history in a 99-52 victory over Central Connecticut State Wednesdayafternoon at the XL Center.

The 6-foot-7 sophomore finished with 11 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists to become the 10th player in school history to accomplish the feat. Former UConn guard Shabazz Napier, who now plays for the Orlando Magic, is the lone Husky to do it twice.

Shonn Miller added a team-high 25 points to lead the Huskies (8-3), who have won three straight going into the holiday break.

UConn was playing its second straight game without injured 7-foot center Amida Brimah, who had surgery on a broken right middle fingerWednesday afternoon.

Rodney Purvis added 16 points, Sterling Gibbs 12 and Kentan Facey 10. UConn shot over 60 percent from the field for the third straight time, finishing at 60.3 (38-for-63).

The highlight of this game was the Christian Foxen steal and dunk at the end of the game and the subsequent reaction by Purvis and Calhoun on the bench. UConn highlight of the season.

Not sure when was the last time UConn shot 60% FGs in 3 straight games. My guess is never - I could be wrong but don't remember it happening.

Regarding the Hamilton triple double: everyone who follows UConn statistically knew it was only a matter of time before this happened. I believe Hamilton will get at least one more triple double this year tying the Napier record. It would not surprise me if he breaks the record this year. Without Brimah there will be more rebounds for Hamilton than there were before and as long as they keep running the offense through him the assists will remain high. He is a remarkable precision passer. The passes he makes are not so easy as they look. He is consistently on the money with his passes.

I find it interesting that in the postgame conference Ollie called Hamilton a "marvelous offensive player." That tells you what Ollie thinks of his defensive abilities. NOT marvelous.

Playing UMass Lowell and CCSU, two of the actual worst teams in the country, helps.
