Reindeer Terp,
I can't disagree with what you said. Maryland has an excellent team and deserves to be ranked in the top 5. It was nice that UConn made a game of it and reduced the lead to 3 at the end before that bad call, but UConn was badly outplayed up until that point. The severe outrebounding of UConn is the most disappointing thing to me, because with Shonn Miller and Hamilton and an improved Brimah, as well as Facey off the bench, UConn's rebounding was supposed to be so much better. Facey has actually been the best rebounder of the bigs, but he like the others is offensively challenged. I watched the Maryland-UNC game and I knew Maryland would be tough to beat and that Stone would be tough on the boards. I thought UConn would turnover Maryland some and they did (15 TOs by Terps, a survivable amount obviously when you crush the opponent on the boards). However UConn's defense was bad and their rebounding was bad, and if you've got a bunch of offensively challenged 4s and 5s, which is what UConn has (apart from very modest scoring inside by Miller), then bad defense and rebounding is completely unacceptable.
The UConn team is very disappointing. We were all expecting much better than this.
