In The NYC area and going to the game tomorrow...

CHEER LOUD AND PROUD!!!

Let's make a statement and get this W

We get a chance to see the team with purvis on the bench with two fouls. Turning point?

S O F T

CHARMIN TISSUE SOFT from the bigs down to guards!

I can take a loss but without effort especially defensively is inexcusable.

These slow starts offensively piss me off and have to dig out of holes and against good talented teams we can't come all the way back!! They get easy buckets and we struggle to get a shot attempt off. That is all effort and want too.... No real lead dawg everyone is like you take it no you take it I don't want it.

We keep this up we are a fringe tourney team at. Best!!

LEADERSHIP...there is none, for the second year in a row...when a game starts to get away....you need a leader to run offense...these guys get down 6 or 8 points and it's let's take turns throwing up rushed / Hail Mary shots and next thing your down 12 or 14. Also didn't help that these refs were in Maryland's back pocket...how many drives did Uconn get clobbered going to the hoop with no call...then there gonna call a touch foul on Adams in a 3 pt game 90 feet away when Melo pushed off( which he got away with all night) under the hoop and it could have easily been a foul on MD. (MD 29 FT's to 12 for Uconn) F#CK these refs !

No doubt about it Blades.... But that valid and real complaint about that call and officiating in general is even more valid if we don't have to play catchup from the jump. Why these guys did not bring the fight from the get go and only wake up after getting ripped to shreds at halftime to man up and play hard. Effort and energy should be a given especially in a big game at MSG. Can't be out rebounded In Total and offensively as well like that. Refs helped them more obviously but the outcome of the game was decided early and on the boards.

I am more upset and disappointed in that. I kind of understand the lackluster first half against Gonzaga because the tough Cuse loss the night before and have to play Gonzaga early the next day.... But what about this. We played sacred hart nearly a full week ago at home before this game and they come out like that to start the game and the first half.... I don't get it. Like I said I can take a loss all day if we played mostly balls to the wall and the other team is just better that day or made a heck of a lot of shots and tough shots a la GS Warriors...

I really thought UConn just got outmuscled in this game. Maryland outrebounded them 45-24 and to recover from a savage beating on the boards you have to shoot the lights out and 41% isn't shooting the lights out. It was a very disappointing performance. Too much individualistic play as evidenced by only 8 assists, and UConn was just bad defensively. The reason why Maryland shot so many FTs wasn't the refs, it was terrible team defense which led to wide open driving lanes the whole game!!!!!!!!! Not sure what game you guys were watching but I saw a couple plays where Maryland players drove full speed to the hole and did not even have their paths blocked. Then what happens is there is a late contest and foul when it's too late for the interior defender to get in any position to take a charge. I can see why Ollie is afraid to play Enoch- he let guys drive right past him and UConn couldn't keep him out there. This team has the potential to be a little better than they are but the AAC isn't going to be a cakewalk like everyone thinks and getting an NCAA tournament berth will not be easy.

The call on Jalen Adams at the end of the game on which Ollie got the T was terrible, but the game was lost before that by plain old bad team defense and rebounding. The 2014 championship team played the best team defense ever even though the bigs were in foul trouble every game........this team doesn't know how to play defense collectively.

Melo is a nice player, but he out shoots us at the FT line? It was let them play on one end and nickel dimer city on the other. But officiating has sucked for years and no elite team consistently gets shafted like uconn and have for years.

But that's no excuse. When shots aren't falling and offense comes and goes, you have to lock down defensively and rebound. I can't remember our guards allowing such easy dribble penetration and we aren't very strong in the post. An occasional Brimah block and/or steal is not good defense. It's about beating people to spots and being aggressive. I agree with Ozzie that this team is really soft. Where is Terrance Samuel when you need him?

Now for Ollie, uconn teams almost always play their best basketball in February and March and let's hope this year is no different.

.
+1 ..This.....No doubt Uconn gave up way to many easy lanes to the hoop. ( Many that weren't fouls, just open dunks or lay-ups) Difference was on several big drives when the game was getting away from Uconn... when D-Ham or others drove and got bumped.... it was a no call especially in the first half when you could see KO say "call it both ways " or in the second when Gibbs got hit on a drive and then Facey got knocked into the stand going for his rebound and the refs called nothing then reversed the OB call. There's way more things that have to be figured out overall by Uconn... but don't tell me Melo should have that kind of difference by himself. He's a smart player but on alot of his out of control drives he was getting NBA super star treatment by these refs. While D-Ham, Adams and the rest got nada....

You obviously have not studied Maryland's road in ACC for 50 years...officiating does suck..give you that. I thought Terps got a few touch fouls on Ceko, Stone and Carter in first half. Terps looked afraid to defend in 2nd half, hence the comeback. Melo always plays like this - he can score/drive/dish at will. For one in a generation - Terps had the better team - no doubt. Y'all will be back.

UConn is missing a post player to score, you have all the other tools. Terps will embarass alot of schools on boards this year.

Reindeer Terp,

I can't disagree with what you said. Maryland has an excellent team and deserves to be ranked in the top 5. It was nice that UConn made a game of it and reduced the lead to 3 at the end before that bad call, but UConn was badly outplayed up until that point. The severe outrebounding of UConn is the most disappointing thing to me, because with Shonn Miller and Hamilton and an improved Brimah, as well as Facey off the bench, UConn's rebounding was supposed to be so much better. Facey has actually been the best rebounder of the bigs, but he like the others is offensively challenged. I watched the Maryland-UNC game and I knew Maryland would be tough to beat and that Stone would be tough on the boards. I thought UConn would turnover Maryland some and they did (15 TOs by Terps, a survivable amount obviously when you crush the opponent on the boards). However UConn's defense was bad and their rebounding was bad, and if you've got a bunch of offensively challenged 4s and 5s, which is what UConn has (apart from very modest scoring inside by Miller), then bad defense and rebounding is completely unacceptable.

The UConn team is very disappointing. We were all expecting much better than this.

Definitely got more touch fouls on us. They had a couple but with these new rules again surprised we
Didn't get those same calls.

You all make good points. Let me throw one out there......Ollie needs to improve as well. I am willing to give him 10 years to figure it out because I love the guy but the T and then the comments after the game that I saw that didn't take ownership of the MASSIVE impact that had on the game was VERY disappointing for me.

To me there is only one person responsible for a teams lack of effort........the coach.

Amazing what happens when you play with intensity and energy from the jump ball!!!!!

Let's String some Ws together....

still crazy how bad Brimah has been. Love him but he has gotten worse a little ? Seems like he is a step behind last year at this point. Hands are for sure worse and still hasn't learned anything on offense or on the boards soooooo.........he is worse in all areas.
