Live Updates: 9/22/15

We all really felt the same, which is new.

Unified disappointment on the team, it really hurt, which is a great thing.

Missouri game: We didn't execute well enough, didn't do a good enough job coaching to let the players execute to get that win.

A little bit higher level of execution in all three phases to pull that win out, which was very realistic.

We expected (to win) which is why it hurt so bad.

I've been competing against Navy for some time, and this is the best team that I've seen.

Stiffest competition of our first four opponents.

Internet down again. Here are the notes:

Rules: They have dedicated many of the things which are unsafe on the field.

Navy is well within the rules with their cut blocking, but it's dangerous.

Reynolds, one of the best things, is he’s a senior and he’s surrounded by seniors.

They have 9 of the off. 11 starters are seniors.

He’s talented in terms of speed and quickness, he’s got a strong arm.

DE Cam Stapleton - For the jobs we ask him to do, he’s great. He’s always been passionate and energetic, but there was an immaturity to his preparation and overall life, and academics.

Dots are connecting.

Football, practice, excited animated.

He’s growing into a darn good player.

Difference between Army and Navy offense:

No differences in terms of the tactical attack, save for a little wrinkle here and there.

They’re doing it right now at a much higher level and a much faster rate.

Offensive line is bigger, fullbacks are much bigger.

Senior/veteran group, coupled with size disparity and more experience.

Back to UConn: Have to spend more time on special teams.

Anything impressed you more than you thought on the defense?

I'd say one that pops out is the energy and focus and belief in what we would call sudden change moments. Where in game 2, not only does it not happen the way it was scripted to happen, the worst happens, a turnover at midfield.

No matter how many times the opponent was set-up at midfield on Saturday, becoming stops.

Diaco just learned about UConn counting for P5 scheduling with Big Ten, said except for Iowa, where he'd be a little torn, it'd be great to play those teams. Maryland, Ohio State, Penn State, etc.

Adds: "Do they play our field hockey team?"

Would I do the same thing again?

I'm getting a do-over, would I do the same thing again, absolutely not!

Too much time elapsed between the 3rd down and the kick opportunity.

Still wouldn't have kicked. We went there to win the game.

Give me a do-over, I run the offense back out there.

Felt like the offensive line did a good job, an admirable job. Didn't feel like they were physically overwhelmed.

I can't look at the offensive line and say they were a minus. It was either a plus or a wash in the game. There was time, there was space, there were creases and cracks, for the most part during the day.

I think the players believe (because I've played Navy before),

the job, of Vann, is more being a hammer.

On the perimeter it's more finish, on the inside it's more hammer.
