Freshman Introduction: Four-star Wing Isaiah Abraham

StrattonStave,

Were you at the Open practice? This kid was VERY impressive. He has a good body and is an elite athlete. He played good defense, shot the ball well, and had some eye-opening, acrobatic dunks. I think he is a star down the road. As far as this year it would not surprise me if he forced some minutes for himself at the 3 or the 4 if there is foul trouble or any kind of injury issues.

I was also impressed with Ahmad Nowell, and Mark Zanetto seems to think he has a shot at starting. A starting backcourt of Hassan Diarra and Solo Ball seems most likely to me, but Nowell will get a lot of minutes off the bench. He is a Dog and a 2 way player.

As impressive as Abraham is, there just isn't a ton of room for him. Think of Stewart last year. He was awesome, but didn't have very many minutes since the team was so good. It's a good problem to have, and I do agree he'll be a great option if the team has the misfortune of injuries. I like Nowell a lot as a player, but tough to see him starting. There are two guard spots open and it seems like Diarra, Mahaney and Ball are all ahead of Nowell. Nowell will likely see the floor, but more than that seems unlikely to me.
