Good report from Mike Anthony:

" To those watching, there's also the more general and important question of whether the Huskies will actually be entertaining. ........It has been awhile. And last season, when UConn stumbled to a 3-9 record with the worst offense in the nation, the tough-to-swallow product had the affects of a Tylenol PM.

Five-plus months from now, we'll find out if UConn, coming off six consecutive losing seasons under Paul Pasqualoni and Bob Diaco, can get back to winning. With Randy Edsall back as coach and the unique approaches of coordinators Rhett Lashlee (offense) and Billy Crocker (defense), there is optimism.

Last season, UConn ran a vanilla offense that averaged 14.8 points. Under Diaco the Huskies tried, unsuccessfully, to win low-scoring games that were a grind of clock management, field position and no risk/reward quotient. UConn didn't even return punts. Defensively, the Huskies were solid in Diaco's 3-4 before that effort, like everything else, fell apart down the stretch. The team was outscored 130-16 in its final four games.

Approaches have changed. Drastically. On and off the field. Players made available to the media have shown more personality and have come across as less guarded. They've smiled a lot."
