The last thing you want if you are a Creighton fan on the eve of a huge game:

Was interested to see how Creighton would come out and play for the beleaguered MacDermott, and so far they haven't. If you are a UConn fan you don't want Mac fired yet. UConn figures to face Creighton in BE semis possibly and what you want is a distracted team which doesn't know why their coach made this kind of statements and exactly what they signed up for. It's already been mentioned in the game tonight and Gus Johnson and company aren't going after Mac so we will see what happens. But the last thing any team wants is this kind of distraction on the eve of postseason games. I personally have no idea what MacDermott was thinking, he is a veteran coach and seemingly not a dumb man and you have to know certain things can't be said.

McDermott Suspended:
He apparently claims that he offered his resignation to his players, but they declined it. It is not clear if he offered his resignation to those who actually employ him.

The two teams above UConn in the standings have been dealt devastating blows. Creighton has their coach suspended, and the players will listen to another voice and do not know if MacDermott will ever coach them again. Villanova has lost its starting PG Gillespie to a torn MCL for the season. The same Gillespie who posted up Cole and Gaffney to embarrassing effect when Villanova beat UConn. These 2 teams have been weakened.

All teams go through adversities, Uconn lost James, AJ and Akok for huge parts of this season. Akok and Polley last year. So Uconn has to stay focused and just do Uconn. And not worry about OPP ( other peoples "problems" ) So it's go time......time to....

McDermott Reinstated. I have mixed feelings about this. I kind of think he might have a tough time recruiting men of color going forward. This will be used him in recruiting, BIG TIME. "How can you trust a coach who wants you on a plantation?" I can see this coming. If he is not able to secure good African American recruits they will eventually can his ass.
"Through his immediate apology, ownership of his actions, difficult dialogue with his team, and more, Coach McDermott has demonstrated a commitment to grow," Creighton athletic director Bruce Rasmussen said. "I believe his apology, his commitment to grow from this, to learn, and to regain the trust of his student-athletes and others impacted by his words. From our conversations, he understands that forgiveness must be earned, and he is willing to work for it. His actions during his career reveal an individual committed to his team and his community. As such, coach Greg McDermott has been reinstated for all team activities, including this week's Big East tournament."

All 5 of Creighton's starters have chosen to leave the "plantation":
What's interesting is that in his statement about his transfer Christian Bishop thanked the Creighton fans but did not thank, or even mention, McDermott.

Methinks Creighton will be sinking to the bottom of the Big East next year like an iron anchor.
