Gilbert has a back issue - not clear whether he'll play, and, if so, whether he'll be 100%.

Hurley came out and said, "you have to earn the right to play for UConn, and I'll play with 6 if need be," or words to that effect. The point being that he's not going to play Sid just because we are desperate. For that, my respect went up even further for the guy.

Some fans are saying, "it's not fair to the other 6 guys if Sid stays suspended," and "it's not good for the program." Holy flying balls of flaming s----t, Batman. You've got to be kidding me. Talk about short-sighted. It's all about the culture now. This season is about wrapped up. The team cultural concept that Hurley is instilling will resonate with every player for the rest of their careers here. That is massively more important than maybe winning one more game this year. It's so incredibly short sighted to want Hurley to bend his rules because we're down to 7 guys.

The funniest part? These myopic fans who want to play Sid to improve (slightly) our chances of winning have no idea what he did to merit the suspension. Lol. They are actually so short sighted they are willing to, it seems, overlook any infraction of team rules and play Sid . . . just because it may help. That attitude is how you create a losing program.

Sid didn't get it. Sid doesn't get it. Sid is, almost certainly, never going to get it. I'd be surprised if he is back next year. He's just a terrible fit for the culture. Hurley said once, after a strong game by Sid, "Sid would play a lot more if he gave us everything he had." Ouch. That was code for, "Sid's mental game is as weak as his athletic game is strong."

If you break the rules, you don't play.

We live in a world of constant accommodation of non-conforming snow flakes. Thank the Lord we have Hurley. Love it.

You put it to a vote of the team before the AAC Tournament. Years ago when Ruben Rivera, Mariano's cousin, stole Derek Jeter's glove, Yankees manager Joe Torre allowed the Yankees team to vote whether he should be allowed back on the team. The team voted NO. I think unanimously. Rivera was cut, unceremoniously.

We don't know what Wilson did or did not do. The team knows. The team can decide if they need him with them or not. Simple majority vote. Anonymous ballots. Majority Yes's and he plays, Majority No's and he sits.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubén_Rivera

"Early in 2002, the Yankees signed him as a free agent, but released him during spring training after Rivera took teammate Derek Jeter's glove and bat, and then sold them to a sports memorabilia dealer, reportedly for $2,500. After this became known, his teammates allegedly voted him off the team, and the Yankees released him. When the incident became public, Rivera apologized but criticized the team after being removed."

That was the best half I've seen UCONN play in years.
The crowd was juiced
The players were juiced
It felt like old school UCONN again.

Starting to believe we can make a run in the AAC Tourney next week

Lets keep this flow going

If we have Calhoun for President believing than this team has come a long way and I'm ALL IN now.

The UConn team played very well tonight, although Houston cleaned up on the O boards ,which kept the game close. Had Houston not gone 16-4 on the O boards, they lose by maybe 15-20 points. Now if UConn beats Tulane on Saturday, they will finish regular season 19-12 and 10-8 in AAC play, with at least a shot at disrupting the AAC Tournament. Although I came away very impressed by Houston and think they will be tough to beat in Texas. They are trying to restore some pride down there after the Houston Astros cheating debacle.

An NIT bid is likely in hand, and that's a tournament in which this team could get a home game or 2 and do some damage, but they can certainly make a run at winning the AAC Tournament.

Sid Wilson managed to rack up 4 fouls in 4 minutes of action. You get your money's worth in the fouling action with him. Reminded me of the game in which Kentan Facey, playing the 5 after foul trouble by Amida Brimah sent him to the bench, fouled out in 8 minutes of action against Tulane's bruising and physical, but talentless big men.

We got some Juju going now. Whaley has given us more offense since Akok went down. Too bad we didn’t have Polley’s catch and shoot and floor spacing capabilities for the tourney,

Hope Gilbert finishes strong and thinks about a 6th man/microwave role next year.

I think if we win the AAC tourney he's back but if not he's gone.
