Rough night on WED for alot of BE / former BE teams. Next months Uconn opponent at MSG gets destroyed in their newly refurbished home arena in a NC rematch:

I was rather surprised by the Michigan- Villanova score. Villanova did lose a lot off last years national championship team but they returned some good players like Paschal and Booth, and for them to get drilled by 27 at home and held to 46 points is quite a shock. Michigan must be pretty good although they lost a lot too.

Talk about penthouse to outhouse, Nova after getting destroyed by MIchigan in their brand new arena loses again on SAT:
Furman 76 vs. (#8) Villanova 68
Elsewhere I guess SMU ( 2-2) will never be the same without Larry Brown: And Memphis needs double OT:
Lipscomb 79 vs SMU 73
Memphis 109 vs. Yale 102 - Final 2OT

Also Vance Jackson ( avg 17pts-8 rebs ) scores 27 in a shoot loss: New Mexico State 98 vs. New Mexico 94

Sunday TV Tourney games for the AAC:
Georgetown (3-1) vs. USF (3-0) @ Montego Bay, Jamaica ( Noon - TV:CBS Sports Network)
Alabama (3-1) vs. Wichita State (2-2) @ Charleston Invitational. (1:30 p.m. - TV:ESPNU )
Western Kentucky (3-1) vs. UCF (3-1) @
Myrtle Beach Championship Game ( 6:30 p.m. - TV:ESPN2 )

You have to hope that the AAC will perform better than this - SMU losing to Lipscomb (at home!) UCF losing to FAU (also at home! Still can’t figure out how that happened after watching UCF yesterday), Wichita State beating Providence but losing to Louisiana Tech by 13 at home. Memphis needing OT to beat Yale at home. We have to root for the AAC to do much better than this. UConn has 3 quality games in December vs. Arizona, Florida State and Villanova (the latter is quickly losing its ratings juice), and may need to win all 3 or at a minimum 2 of those 3, which are all either at home or on neutral courts. Just to get a NCAA 5 seed or better, UConn might need to win those 3 games, and sweep through AAC play with 4 or less losses.

USF was leading Georgetown the whole game but folded up and lost in OT 76-73. Another blown opportunity for AAC power rating points.

Another blown opportunity: Wichita State rallied to send this game into OT only to lose to Alabama 88-84. Two tough OT losses by the AAC today.

Tacko Fall of UCF, their 7’6” center with a 8’4” wingspan who is reportedly one of the 40 tallest humans on the planet, has to have the worst FT form I have ever seen. He is a complete mess as a FT shooter - absolutely awful, although not a surprise for a tall center. But the form makes you cringe. Fall is a good dunker and passer and a ferocious shot blocker, but the Hack a Tacko strategies are coming if he is on the floor in a close game. UCF in control of this game at the moment, though.

True, (shooting .211 %) the guy is lost and that new form looks way worst than last year. They should have just left him alone, he's dipped since he started @ UCF ( .558 as a FR to .462 then .460) but at least that was acceptable for a 7-6 guy. I liked the comment from the TV guys about it's like us shooting a tennis ball.

AAC 1-2 on those games above but at least UCF took the Championship with a blowout vs. WKU( who beat West Virginia the semifinal) and now are 4-1 after that 1pt WTF loss. Also stop the Bulls...... the Hoya's didn't have much on them (accept Akinjo in the clutch) handing them their first loss of the year in OT.

UCF 78 vs.
W. Kentucky 62
Georgetown 76 vs South Florida 73 in OT
Alabama 90 vs. Wichita St. 86

Once UConn has the bodies of Diarra and Wilson back on the bench they will be able to deploy a “Hack a Taco” strategy and let him shoot FTs if he is put out on the floor in a close game. You want him shooting as many FTs as possible.

Important game for UConn tonight as Arizona meets #3 Gonzaga in Maui semifinals. UConn needs a big win by Arizona tonight so we have to all root for Sean Miller and company! This game is the nightcap after the Duke-Auburn matchup in the other semifinal.

Unfortunately, a couple of 16 point losses in Maui exposed Arizona as an average club. The sheen has already been removed from UConn's December games against Arizona and Villanova, and wins over these struggling teams are just not going to provide that much ratings juice. Florida State is now the plum December game for UConn, and the one that could give UConn the most ratings juice.

In a battle of UConn December opponents, Villanova has beaten Florida State 66-60 in the Advocate Tournament.

Involving the AAC tonight:
Oklahoma State 84, Memphis 64
Nevada 96 Tulsa 86
Very disappointing results.
And Memphis (picked top 4 in AAC coaches poll) is now at .500 (same as Wich St.) after another loss on Sunday vs a Colonial team:
Rice 61 - Wichita State 90
Charleston 78
(5-2 - #73 RPI) .- Memphis 75

On Sat- Cincinnati did beat Ole Miss, 71-57, to claim the Emerald Coast Classic Championship
