Another Sixers legend bites the dust

Moses was a true low post force and he used physical strength and relentlessness to bull his way to most of his inside buckets. He did have a very nice faceup jumper to a certain range. On the 1983 Sixers team, he made the difference with that team. They could not get past the Celtics and Lakers at that time, without him.

Very true, he one of the key moves for the Sixers including movin' on from Caldwell Jones and Dawkins... finally got the Doc his NBA title...nice video career retrospective of him in that link ...and crazy stat they list about his career" From 1979 to 1987: Moses Malone averaged 25.5 points and 14.1 rebounds per game. Since then? No player has averaged ( over 25 and 14 ? ) once in a season."...

Interesting that it was Calvin Murphy that reported Moses died of an apparent sudden heart attack. Calvin, a former teammate, was supposed to play golf with his good friend Moses in a tournament.

I had done some research yesterday and Calvin Murphy's name came up. I saw that Elena Della Donne is leading the WNBA with a ridiculous 95.7 FT% (198-207) (she also leads the league in scoring and is top 3 in rebounds and blocked shots). I had never seen such a high % and did some research to see if any NBA player ever shot better in a season.

Answer is only 2 NBA players ever shot higher. Jose Calderon shot 98.1% (151-154) in 2008-09, but the only NBA player who shot better based on 200 or more FT attempts was Calvin Murphy, who hit 95.8% in 1980-81 when Moses was his teammate. I think Moses was a pretty good FT shooter too. Certainly better than most guys who were rebounding at that level.
