They've been doing these team previews for years, so here's a fairly in-depth look (I guess as much as possible without a 2020 season to reference.. ... ) by staff @ CFN...

From longtime Uconn announcer Bob Joyce:
"We are exactly one month away from the opening of the UConn Football Season in 2021. And as practice begins Friday with Media Day tomorrow (Thursday), there are way more questions than answers as the season approaches......I see a lot of comparisons with the 2002 team to this squad. It’s a big year for Football in Storrs, and Randy Edsall and the staff can’t make excuses anymore. "

About one week (AUG 26th) until Uconn heads to Cali for the opening match-up next Sat and a little from HCRE, on the QB comp, but no #1 named yet.
“Those guys have been competing and are still competing,” Edsall said. “When it’s time for us to put out a depth chart and everything else, I’ll be very comfortable with whoever the quarterback is but I’ll also know this — whoever the starter is going to be, the guy who’s the backup has got to be ready to play as well."

"They would need a winning record to get into a bowl game, but they will be on TV every week with good start times against some interesting opponents......... Sling away, UConn Jack for football independence is, almost by definition, a roguish venture. Smash-mouth, three-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust football works in the Northeast when there is a well-defined goal like a playoff spot or a bowl invitation. The Huskies need to be anti-establishment and make anyone who stumbles across one of their games on CBS Sports Network stop clicking and say, “Who are these guys?”....So here is my proposition: Be bold. Strike hard. Play with attitude. Play fearless. Play like there is absolutely nothing to lose and every week is a one-game season because that’s exactly what this is about."

Growing Up Is Getting Old -

The Story: The football team isn't getting any younger — but it's not getting any older, it seems. Ninety-three of the 102 players on the Huskies entering Saturday's season opener at Fresno State enter the season with at least three seasons of eligibility remaining.

BLUE, WHITE ... AND GREEN: Between the Class of 2020, the Class of 2021 and a slew of walk-ons, the Huskies enter the season with 44 true freshmen and 14 redshirt freshmen. That's 56.8 percent of the team that still has four years of eligibility left.

• The Huskies have only eight seniors or redshirt seniors though many of them are starters, including running back Kevin Mensah, left tackle Ryan Van Demark, tight end Jay Rose and linebacker D.J. Morgan.

• Seven players who held significant roles in 2019 are true sophomores, including wide receiver Cam Ross, outside linebacker Jackson Mitchell, cornerback Myles Bell and defensive end Eric Watts.

• Of the 70 players who appeared in a game in 2019, only 36 are still on the team.

FIRST-YEAR STANDOUTS: Ross and Mitchell were among the more accomplished freshmen playing in the FBS in 2019.

• Ross' 60 catches and 723 receiving yards weren't just the most on the Huskies. He ranked second among FBS true freshmen in receptions and fifth among FBS true freshmen in receiving yards.

• Mitchell, from Ridgefield, led all FBS true freshmen with 6.5 tackles per game and was third among FBS true freshmen with 65 tackles.
