2016- Mario Kegler

Looks like the type of player that could blossom as a pro. Larger (slightly slower) guard doesn't do so great in college. Smaller faster guards are two quick.

Does seem to have guard skills but he's a 6-7 / 210lb small forward, I don't see him having to match up defensively with small guards anymore than D-Ham, Giffey, Daniels, etc would

I guess Under Armour is making the moves again:

The #Terps have made a big move in the recruitment of prized SF Mario Kegler: http://bit.ly/1NO0bWs (VIP/FREE Trial)

"We're just waiting for [Oak Hill coach Steve Smith] to get back from vacation so we can talk to him about his schedule, and schedule the official visits ... We have about three or four schools that are visits for sure and about three or four others that he could visit. Indiana is a visit. Maryland is a visit. UConn is a visit," Carter said. "Also, Arizona State, Mississippi State, LSu and Baylor are some possibilities as far as visits.

UA Elite Scouting report from 3Uconn:
2016 SF Mario Kegler- He's a very skilled and versatile player on the wing. Could play both small forward and some stretch four in college. He has a good jumper as he hit a catch and shoot three and had a fadeaway mid range jumper among a couple finishes around the rim. UConn, Maryland, Indiana, and Arizona should be receiving official visits as long as he takes all of them. It doesn't look like UConn is in his upper echelon (?) but things can change with a visit and more time.

Maryland seems to be the team am to beat. B10 money and sneaker cash helps

As Blades referred I touched upon his recruiting some in my Elite 24 recap. He's been saying he will officially visit at least UConn, Maryland, Arizona State, and Indiana. Two other schools to possibly keep your eyes out for are Mississippi State, which he already has visited unofficially, and Kentucky. Kentucky isn't recruiting him right now but if they miss on some wings I can easily see them targeting him and I believe he is high on Kentucky.

However, Indiana and Maryland look to be above UConn and Arizona State possibly too right now. Would say UConn has a slim chance with him right now but things can always change.

I've heard about the sneaker cash a lot lately. It's not like this is anything new. Nike has been rep'ing almost all the teams for years. Lately, it seems like these types of comments are applied to Under Armor teams. How does sneaker company affiliation trickle down to the player? Through parents?

Everyone has sneaker deals but Maryland is Under Armour / Kevin Plank's favorite son, he played football there and he's become a billionaire in what ? the last 10 years or so.....So it helps to have a sugar daddy just like Oregon is Phil Knight's favorite son.....there's less NFL players that come from Oregon HS's than CT's yet somehow Oregon is at the top of the food chain in college FB with Knights money....there's always been plenty of hoops talent in DC and B-more but it's making it alot easier for Maryland now nationwide ( Diamond Stone ?) when you got the guy running the company and offering future endorsement deals in your back pocket.

I didn't know about the Kevin Plank relationship to Maryland. Thanks. I'm still not sure how they direct players to their schools, but I suspect you are right. I also suspect they really cover their but. Don't do or say anything overt or stupid. Lawyers are probably involved.

And if Under Armor or Nike ever did do something dumb the governing body (NCAA) assuredly has no stomach for the onslaught of lawyers that Nike or Under Armor could unleash.

Very true and since most schools are taking UA, Adidas and Nike's money at some level, they are in no position to rock that boat, since who is the NCAA dictated to by anyway? .... the biggest schools ( mostly P-5 ) who happen to be cashing those companies biggest checks.

And even with Plank sending another 25 million last year to Maryland (athletics) it's not like other schools don't have donors who own successful companies. It's just that alot of these donors companies, don't have endorsement deals for athletes with the product they sell, once they leave their favorite school and become pro. But I'm sure there's alot of grey that nobody including the NCAA wants to touch, because why kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.
